August 2009 brides

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone!!

I'm a August 2009 bride and just found this thread even though I'm on here all of the time. I'm also in school and have had trouble finding time to do everything. Here is what I've done so far:

Booked Dreams Los Cabos and paid deposit

Booked TA

Bought the dress

Picked BM dresses (I'm still waiting for their measurements. I'm at the point where I'll be threatening that I'll guess their measurements)

Booked site visit (3.23.09) and plan to meet and choose all vendors afterwards

Sent STDs

Sent invites

Sent deposit reminder e-mail

Started and continuing workout plan (there's a former Army ranger in my class who has started a boot camp for some of us in my class so I'm hoping to maintain my weight and get more toned)

Hi August Brides,

It made me feel so much better to know that everyone is still trying to get it all together. Ok, this is what I have done so far: I have booked my wedding date at the resort. (Sunset at the Palms on August 22nd) I decided to have a private reception at the resort. I am still looking for a place to have a BBQ and bonfire on the beach on friday night before the wedding. I have a TA and I am working with her on the arrangements. The prices are pretty good right now, but I suspect it will get cheaper as the economy gets worse. I have bought my STD's and am just waiting for a completed address list from you know who. He keeps saying, "Don't worry we have time." I keep saying, "No, we don't." It has become a joke at this point. I haven't found any invitations that I like. I just sent away for some catalogues but I think I need to go to a party store and see some in person.

I bought my dress and shoes, both of which I love! I found my dress on line at A Price less Bridals. (Wedding gowns, wedding dresses, prom dresses, prom gowns, bridal gowns, bridal dresses) I was afraid to purchase a dress sight unseen, when I discovered that their warehouse was about 5 miles from my house. They have beautiful designer dresses at amazing prices. I tried on my dress at the warehouse and bought it that day because they usually only have 1 of every dress. If anyone is interested in any of their dresses I will be happy to go see it in person take a pic for you.

My bridesmaids are wearing neutral champagne colored dresses that 2 of us wore for another friend's wedding. No overlapping guests so no one but us will know!! I will change the rhinestone brooch on the front to a pink rhinestone one to add a splash of color. I want the guys to wear khaki pants and white shirts.

I chose my bouquet, centerpieces and arch from Floral Fantasy in Negril. Still waiting on a cost for the centerpieces.

I have no idea what to put in my OOT bags. The only things I have planned so far are bottled water and a cd with our music on it. (Boring) Any creative ideas for me?

Now that I have written it all down I can see just how much more work I have to do!!!

Thanks for the support guys. I am trying to keep a level head about this whole dress thing. I will keep you posted about the outcome after the 16th. I wish I was close to you Jacilynda so I could use your dress maker, the price sounds nice and I hope it all turns out fab. Merocket59 if you decide to do the passport invite I paid 122.00 for 60 mini versions. Mini only because I knew people would get rid of them after my wedding. But they came out so nice people walk with them to work and show others. lol. I used a vendor from this forum Ana de Roux - Custom Invitations, Stationery & Design. maybe she could help you. She also does other types of invites.

Welcome to our new addition to the forum. You have done a lot so far, don't worry you are on the right track. :)

OH, I did find Taiflora, and have been in contact with Jenivive who have been good so far, I am waiting on a final price. I will fire the other florist, weddingplannerplus, and use them instead. I tried flora fantasy she was good, but then she called me stating she has a big wedding the same day and can not do mines and reffered me to Tai. I am still please with the work so...

Purrfected-You have done a great job so far, I am getting the same from my FI with the music deal. He is a DJ on the side and I need to figure out music now. But, he thinks we have it and not to worry. I am ignoring him at this point and trying to use my other friend who is also a DJ to help incase he wants to be the mad man at the last minute. Not me. :) I think in your OOT bags you can also put small suntan lotion, buggoff, tissue, camera, small scented candle, lip gloss, and flip flops. There is a thread on here for this I will look for it and post it for you.

Also-someone ask for music. Being that it is a beach wedding we/I :) have decided on steal pan music while we eat, just the intromentals, and then a bunch of other island sounds for the rest of the night, Berres Hammon, Alain, some Stevie Wonder, and man I need my list names are slipping me. I will post it later.

Hi. Thanks for all of the well wishes.

Barrow - The passport invitations are great. I am going to order them this week. I want to include all of the information so I will need the full size ones. I emailed her for a quote. I will only need about 30 of them at the most so it shouldn't be too bad. She is so creative. I am sad I didn't know about her before I would have ordered the boarding passes for STD's.

I am going to go to Michaels tomorrow to look for some goodies for my OOT bags. I am heading to my local dollar store to look for some chapstick and scented candles. Wish me luck ladies!!

The seamstress is actually in Hong Kong. So I haven't seen or tried on my dress at all. I can have anyone here alter how I need. The price was just unbeatable. She also sells them on ebay and I decided anyone w/ 1278 feedbacks at 100% must do well, REALLY well to still have 100% w/ selling over 1200 dresses! Plus some other BDW girls have used her as well.

Look for the playing cards in the dollar section they are really cute, they have travel pics on them (a plane, boat, etc)

Purrfected- the mini ones are actually almost the same size as the US passport, it is just maybe 1in off on both sides. I had 4 pages inside. I also did a mini boarding pass inside with the list of activities on it. It held a lot of information. I have them on my album on here, I am still not sure how to post pics to threads.lol I am glad you like the workshe does.

Merocket59-The size was just right for the event. I just didn't get the bigger ones due to the cost and trying to save on money. Not that she charged a lot, but didn't know what my budget will look like, so anyway to save on cost I took it. :)

Barrow---Thanks for the info! I can order the mini pass ports and save some $. I like the boading passes idea. Just haven't decided where I can incorporate it. Thanks for the help. My FH loved the passports. (I was shocked he is usually ambivalent about anything I show him!)

Thanks again ladies!
