i just cant seem to decide on a place. we really are thinking cancun and we want an all inclusive.... and i REALLLLLY love moon palace, but then i was reading on here that other peoples guests booked elsewhere because of prices. i mean, whats the point of flying all the way to mexico and staying at a diff resort? do i dunno. guess we just have to wait and see the prices when they become available

hi all, we're hoping for the end of april or beginning of may 2010 at the gran bahia principe-mayan riveria. we've stayed there twice before and had a great time so we picked there. plus it's less stress for us going to a place we aren't familiar with. i want a very laid back wedding so this should help. plus the price is reasonable, great place, lots to do...i can also answer any questions the guests have about the resort which i think will eliminate a lot of stress.

Hello 2010 brides! FI and I have narrowed our decision down to Riviera Maya/Playa del Carmen area. It's great to know that everyone is going through the same frustrations. I've been looking at sooooooo many hotels and I can't seem to find what I want and still keep it reasonable for our guests. FI has gone to a TA, but they haven't been very helpful. I just clicked on the BDW TA and requested a TA, but none of them "specialize" in this area. Only Jill seems the most relevant one. Anyone had experience with Jill?

We are expecting 50-100 guests, ranging in all ages. We decided on RM/Playa because it seems more quiet and intimate for a wedding. The hotels I love are all too pricey. I love Royal Playa del Carmen, but they don't allow kids. I love Grand Velas, but $$$$. I would love a Tulum wedding, but the land travel is too much for older guests. Maybe we should just suck it up and book a place? I think my biggest problems is that I don't know what the approximate room rates will be for our guests. Any info you can share about room rates?

I have been told by the 5 TA's i have working on getting me the best price that in a few more weeks when the prices actually come out prices should get better. I have sent out emails to my guests informing them of our plans to give them the time to save if they wish to attend. I have also informed them that the invite with more details will follow when I get resort and prices narrowed down.
That sorta what I plan to do. I think most people will want to go if you give them a reason to go. Not only are they going to a wedding, but for most, it will also be a well derserved vacation!!. And for the average person, it will take saving money to be able to attend. So I think by giving them the hotel, air, and destination info in person, it shows that we really want them to be able to come and we do understand if they are unable to attend. I already have the room prices, plus she gave me a discount. The only info im waiting for is of course, airfare.....
Good Luck

Is anyone else in the process of blocking hotel rooms for your guests?? I am trying to do that now, but since my wedding is a year away it's kinda hard to firgure out who will actually go. My TA said that the resort will accept an estimate of rooms but to try and be as close as possible. I will also have the opportunity to release any unbooked rooms 90 days before my departure which is good. I have invited about 85 people and only expect maybe 30-35 to go, so I was thinking of maybe blocking only 20-25 rooms. But what if more than 35 people go or what if all 85 people go!!

It's a tough decision to make. Especially so far out. You wanna tell everyone please go ahead and book now!! It might be best to wait awhile and kinda get a feel for how much feedback you are getting from your std's you send out. Most people will either contact you and say "hey, we wanna go" or send you back the RSVP card letting you know their intentions. So if you put a reply date on the rsvp card say... a couple weeks from when you send them out, within a months time you will have a pretty good idea of how many rooms you will need to block....IMO

I completely agree with you. We're sending out STD's tomorrow, and we will see what kind of response we have from them to know an idea of how many guests we can expect. We're not doing RSVP cards with our STD's though, we put our wedding website address and asked them to provide us with an "informal RSVP" on our website so we know who's interested. I really hope we get a good response!!! **FINGERS CROSSED**

I've also sent out our STD's about 2 weeks ago and asked guests to check out our website. The frustrating thing is that no one is looking at our website after I spent so much time putting all the details on it. People who are interested in going have been just asking us the details. Hopefully more people will start looking at the site over the next month. And the majority of our guests are computer savvy enough to know how to use the internet and website. I'm glad that I didn't pay money and got a free website.

Hello fellow 2010 Brides...It is so nice to see all of you on here! I am pretty sure that my man and I will be getting married April 2010. The exact date is still up in the air. My best friend/cousin is considering getting married at the same resort (Gran Bahia Principe in Mexico) on the same week. We would still have our own special day, but we would share the week. We are very close so I think this would be great! Anyway I’m happy to see you all on here and I look forward to helping each other out.
