At home reception

Nice!

So for invites we are planning on doing one of the picture cards- like people do for Christmas cards. The one we like has a pic on front, then you open it and there is a picture inside with details. So not the really cheap ones, but pretty reasonable too.

We are going to have our slideshow and video going as well... food is going to be kabobs, brats, salads and bars...things you can eat with plastic silverware. we'll serve beer, wine, sodas and maybe a punch. Works for me!

The part I need to worry about is transportation/parking. They are out in the country a little ways and I don't want people to take advantage of open bar and drive tipsy out there so we are thinking of shuttling people to and from. I think it would be a wise investment.

We only started planning our AHR last week and we are having it on April 11th!! About 100 people at a hall in a local Sailing club...so its on the water which I love! We are having a cocktail style reception beginning at 7:30 and hiring a DJ. We are playing our slideshow and video and having cupcakes for the guests. Not too formal, not too casual - very us!

We are renting a screened shelter that seats 100 people. It's in a local golf club. We are going to have catered BBQ and do some on our own. We're doing a BEACH theme and will show our video and dance the night away. We are thinking about calling it a Mr & Mrs. Party! Casual and FUN, that's the idea.

we're renting the aerospace musuem which is a museum of historical planes and in the center of all the planes is a big enough space to have our reception. that was our way of being different and not having to decorate...and no neither of us has a special interest in planes, we just thought it'd be better than a hall or restaurant.

we're inviting about 160 ppl, catered but only with hor d'eourves. we didn't want a formal sit down dinner, only a mingling semi formal cocktail reception. we have bar service where we're providing the alcohol. no wedding cake, just desserts.

doing a sand ceremony, our wedding speeches, and wedding slideshow. that's it, no other typical wedding reception stuff. no DJ either, we're just making a playlist and boogeying down to it.

i have an electric blue backless AHR dress that i'm starting the evening in. but we're getting announced like you normally would so we can make an entrance and i'll be in my mexico wedding dress for that and probably an hour or so after that. but then back to my blue dress for the rest of the night

FI's family already does a big 4th of July family get-together at his parents farm so we've decided to incorporate our AHR in to this. His dad rented a large tent and it will be BBQ-style. We're planning to work hard at getting our video put together (we're purchasing unedited and I'm using Adobe to edit) and hopefully have at least a simple album put together with lots of the pictures. And of course FIREWORKS!

We are getting married in Maui in August, and we've decided to have at at home 'reception' as a New Years Eve Party. We have rented out a restaurant in downtown Pittsburgh with roof access (free fireworks show at midnight....can't beat it!). We may do a slide show of our wedding photos, but not sure yet. We're not wearing our wedding attire, but its going to be black/silver/white themed, so I will get a new fun party dress! We'll be iPod-ing it for most of the night, and we will have a band play from midnight on (my dad's band....kinda cute!). We wanted something that was more of a party, and less of a reception, and I figure....everyone is always looking for something fun to do on New Years Eve!
