Boy Dogs going pee????

My guy always squats and he's almost 3. He's around a lot of other male dogs who lift their legs but he just doesn't seem interested. I don't know what the reason is...maybe it has something to do with marking territory and all that? He doesn't mark his territory at all...he pees once when he goes outside and that's it. Not sure if the 2 are related.

Im not sure but I do have a funny story about this. My fiance and I went to my future mother in laws house with our 1 year old yorkie poo, Sampson. (He has NEVER lifted his leg to pee) we let him walk around outside for about 5 minutes before going in the house so he could do his business. The second we let him in the door he heads straight for the lazy boy lifts his leg and pees all over that chair! It was the funniest thing! Of course my future mother in law gave him a treat after he peed all over her chair. hehehe!

I have 2 male boxers. One started lifting his leg around 1 or so I believe and the other who is now almost 4, it depends on what he's peeing on if he lifts his leg or not, lol. A tree, he'll lift -- the grass, he'll squat. And at home he usually never 'covers his tracks' when he's going, but out in public, he'll do it in a heartbeat - he's such a show off, lol. bunny_4.gif

Killick is a lab & he's almost one. He still squats & I tease DH all the time that his dog still pees like a girl!! LOL

He's not a marker either...so that's probably it.

He even spends every weekend at the dog park & watches other dogs do it, but still doesn't feel the need. Maybe that will change, maybe not! He has a mind of his own so I'm sure he will decide!! lol

my boy chi is 2 1/2 also and he squats in the middle of the yard, and lifts around the edge of the yard, like id there is a bush or whatever to "aim" at haha.

my girl chi squats AND lifts when she has to go real bad, like if its been a while since they have been out, and squats the rest of the time.

hahahah what a funny discussion. "normal" people would think we are insane wink.gif

Apollo, our Great Dane, was a little over a year old when he started to pee with his leg up. The only reason for this, like everyone else said, is because he saw another dog pee that way so he began to do the same. But now, he mixes it up and squats sometimes too. I think it's because he's beginning to have back/hip problems and squating may just be easier for him, who knows?!

I've got an ex army spaniel and he has been around countless dogs lifting their leg lol he's 12 and so bloody lazy that he doesn't even squat he just kind of moves his legs apart lmao doesn't stand still either lol

I tell FI his dog is gay and it spends him loopy lmao
