Just curious, what are your "unpacking" habits when you're on vacation?

Not sure if this should be a random thought, but I put it in the travel subforum since it relates to traveling.

DH & I are opposites when it comes to unpacking while on vacation. This is mostly true on trips where we're spending more than 3-4 days away.

When we arrive to our destination, whether its a cruise or a resort/hotel, he unpacks everything in his luggage & puts it in drawers & closets.

Me on the other hand, I live out of my bag! The thought of unpacking after I painstakingly tried to fit everything inside the luggage perfectly, is just totally unappealing & overwhelming. LOL

I must say that I've gotten better with this since I started putting my clothes in those space saver bags that you push the air out of. I use those & then pack that in the luggage and when I arrive to our destination, I just pull the entire space saver bag out & put that in the drawer.

So, I'm just wondering, what are your unpacking habits?

Do you totally unpack & make the resort your home? Or, do you leave your clothes packed & live out of your bag?

haha, you are too funny! I am with you. I don't unpack a thing. I guess it is more sanitary reasons for me. I am a germaphobe and I don't want to put my bathing suits, panties, clothes, etc. in drawers and closets when I don't know what has been there before me =) FI leaves his clothes in his suitcases too!

Im the same way! I leave everything in my suitcase and then on the last day repack it in. FI though likes to unpack everything and put it away in drawers...so odd to me!! Im also a VERY last minute packer...i will wait till the last second because I hate doing it...I hope I dont do that for the wedding though!

It really depends on where we are going and how long we are staying. If it's a weekend trip or something 3-4 days then we both usually keep most of our stuff in our suitcase. With the exception of nice clothes and our jackets. For trips longer than 5 days or if on a cruise we unpack everything. It just makes it easier. Also it depends where we are staying, in the past few years we have stayed at nicer hotels so I feel alittle more comfortable unpacking.

Interesting and fun thread...

I am just the opposite of everyone else. I travel a lot for business and I cannot stand living/working out of my suitcase. I unpack everything when we first arrive and make myself completely at home in the hotel room - my temporary "home" (which is unfortunately how I refer to it when I am away on business). I then throw my dirty clothes in the suitcase throughtout the week, and repack everything the last day - trying to keep anything that is clean separate from the stuff that is dirty.

ditto...short trips = suitcase...long trips = closet/drawers
