Anyone else's mom freaking out over TTD?

My mother is having such an issue with TTD. Everytime she looks at my dress, she sighs and says, are you really going to trash it? I can't get it through her head that one, the dress will be fine, two, the pics will be gorgeous, and three, even if it somehow does get ruined, I'm never wearing it again anyway!

I know it's a new concept to her, but I'm just so tired of hearing about it. I'm trying to be nice about it, but just shut up already. Anyway, just wanted to see if other mothers (or family members in general) were freaking out over TTD.

Hey Kristy, my mom is having the SAME issue!

But me...I am SOOOO excited to trash my dress. You are working with KLK Photography too is that right? I was just talking with Kristi last week about ideas for our TTD...my main request is to jump in the ocean at some point! wink.gif

Unfortunatley I really can't help with any advice for your mom because I am having the same issue...have you thought about getting a second dress to trash?

So my photographer doesn't call them "trash the dress" sessions for that exact reason... it kind of freaks people out. She has aptly named them "extreme bridal" sessions... and she explains that the concept is to get great images without worrying about getting the dress dirty.

I hope that helps... My FMIL freaked out when we tried to explain it to her... I'm lucky, I guess, since my mom died when I was young and I don't give a flying flip what my step mom thinks. We just decided that talking to FMIL about TTD was just a bad idea. Instead, I decided that I can just avert the conversation to china patterns. She likes talking about China patterns. :)

Good luck!

I mentioned it to my mom the other day and she didn't seem to excited about it. I think the problem is that if they haven't seen pictures they really don't know or understand. And when you call it "trash" the dress they think literally since they haven't seen pictures. I'm doing it and I'm not getting another dress because I feel like what's the point then. I'm also planning on wearing my dress again at my AHR, I'm sure it should be fine after a good dry cleaning.

I mentioned the idea to my sister and she thinks it's a great idea! She wants to go along and call it a trash the wedding parties dresses or something like that:) Not sure if I like that idea but we'll see. I don't want a big group outing to my photo session with my husband!

Drown the Gown! That is what they are calling it when Senior girls are doing it with their prom dresses.

My mom wasn't thrilled with the idea but I didn't back down. Our compromise was to buy a second dress. I did ask my seamstress and she said that with the lace and beadwork I wouldn't want to trash it, but she said a lot of gowns are fine to even go into your washing machine!

I ended up doing my TTD alone because DH wan't excited about it. I can honestly say it was one of my favorite moments from my wedding! If I had done my TTD with my DH, I probably would have wanted my own dress.

My TTD dress came out WAAAAYYYY cleaner than my ceremony dress!

Have you girls shown your mom pics of other brides doing TTD. I am getting married for the 2nd time and my daughter who is 24 first told me about this TTD, she explained to me what it was about. I searched it and thought what a great idea and those pics are amazing. I am 47 years old and I am diffently doing TTD! lol
