Bridesmaid gift cost/suggestions?

cantwait, did you expect a gift, or do you feel that how you were treated was appropriate?

I plan to get my MoH something small (maybe just some really nice flowers b/c she's a picky shopaholic and has everything she wants). I know it's a lot of work and money to host a shower, but I would happily return the favor when my BMs get married and don't really feel that any elaborate gift is required.

In my mind, throwing a shower is sort of like throwing a birthday party for someone...it's done out of love and b/c it's a special occasion (and in the case of a wedding it's even more rare and more special!).

All that being said, you know your BMs best and probably have the best idea of what "feels right" but I think something like a spafinder gift certificate would be nice (then they can all get facials or manicures or something before the wedding!). GL! All the pesky wedding etiquette details are always a huge stress :S

Been a bridesmaid three times and never received a gift from the bride nor did I expect it. I think a nicely worded thank you card is all that is needed.

I meant for the shower.... oddly enough, I received pearls from all three brides for being in the wedding.

No I didn't expect anything or feel slighted at all.

We got gifts for being bridesmaids and I got a "special " gift for being MOH that I didn't even feel was necessary. I was the MOH and honored to be. It seems to me that while I had a ton more to do than the other girls and did end up spending a ton more money that I was honored that she wanted me to be her MOH.

I threw a shower last year for my sister who had a destination wedding. She gave me a cute beach bag with a nice pair of flip flops, beach towel and cute floppy hat. They did not do the OOT bags, so i brought them on the trip with me.

Im not having a shower but Im getting my BMs gifts for being bridesmaid and probably giving it them in Mexico. I ordered 3 different clutches from: Welcome to Beegeebags.com and will put coconut lip gloss, a gift card and provide them with pashminas. I may add to it but thats what i have for now

My girls are getting a modified OOT bag upon arriving to Gulf Shores. It is a beachy tote filled with goodies: hair spray, sunscreen, beach towel, body wash, body lotion and spray from Bath and Body Works, manicure set, nail polish, eyeshadow, blush, lipgloss, eyeliner, make up remover, snacks, etc. I'm also buying their jewelry and having their lovely dresses made for them.

Because they are already getting all of that practical stuff, I want to something different for them. I might get them a massage gift certificate and give them a nice candle to go with that, or something along those lines.

i have never even heard of getting gifts for whoever throws you a shower. maybe it's a regional thing? bridesmaids generally get gifts for being a part of the wedding party, but that's all.

then again, every bridal shower i have ever been to/planned has been a surprise party ... hard to show up with gifts for the hosts when you've been surprised! "thank you" cards are usually sufficient.

These are great ideas! I have never gotten a gift for throwing a shower, just for being in the wedding. Although as an MOH I received an additional gift. Gifts I have gotten I really liked was an initial necklace from Tiffany's, silver ball earrings from Tiffany's, and a pashmina. Since all of these girls are now in mind wedding, I can't repeat them. I don't know what to get them!! Such stress!
