Bringing Sand Ceremony Home

Recommended Posts

I found this great website that actually sells glass stoppers for their sand containers or gel candle making stuff... here check out the website.. I will be buying the maple colored lid... such a cool idea!!!

Does anyone know - can this be done with regular candle wax or do you need special gel candle waxhuh.gif

Is this hard to do??

I transported our beach sand from Mexico back without a problem, no one in customs stopped us. Of course I had that baby wrapped as much as possible in bubble wrap. The vase I used was heart shaped and cost a dollar at walmart, came with a cork....can't beat that!!! It was cheap and served its purpose. We added seashells to it that we collected on the beach also.

I have a question to all you brides who have already done the sand ceremony... how much sand of each color did you need? I have received my order of my colored sand and they are 1pound bags each... is that going to be enough? Plus we will be adding the sand from the beach to the bottom of the vase?? Can anyone help me out with thishuh.gif Thanks!!! :)

As far as taking the sand there - leave it in its original container so there arent' any questions at customs. When you bring it back make sure to fill it all the way and tap...tap...tap. Otherwise your sand will shift and become all swirled up and will look funny like mine did (boo!)

I carried mine back in my carryon and since we had connnecting flights we had to be re-screened. The screener made me un wrap the bottle because they thought I was taking a bottle of liquid on. Once I showed them what it was and told them it was from my wedding they were really nice and sent me on my way.

Its that latest craze for weddings... usually destination weddings.. it is the ceremony just like a unity candle ceremony, except its unity sand ceremony.. you buy the colors of your wedding in sand and then your husband pours one color and you pour the other color blending the two sands together like blending your hearts together as one.. or a unity candle.. same idea... hope that helps!!!
