Paradisus Riviera Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone!! I've been lurking for the past 3 days reading all 89 pages of posts!! SOOOO much WONDERFUL information!! I'm so excited!

The only thing that is stressing me right now is reserving our date!! We are working through destinationweddings.com and they said that they contacted the resort on Tuesday and still have no reply on availability. How long did it take for them to get back to you? My FI is finishing his MBA and we have a SUPER tight time window that we are working with. If we don't get our date we're going to have to move the wedding out 9 months!!

Welcome egsarah! Normally Perla responds pretty quickly (within a couple of days) but I know that Daniela left Paradisus at the beginning of DEcember so as far as I know Perla is on her own.. I would email again on Monday... Perla doesn't work on Sundays for the most part.

I got a massage at the spa. It was good, but not as good as I've had here in the states. I actually thought that they mixed up my treatment with someone elses because the 2nd half of my massage was reflexology, which I didn't ask for but wasn't going to complain about at the time. I also used the spa for my hair and my moh and bm hair. I'll put more in my review, but lets just say it also wasn't what I expected.

She was very sick! We were supposed to meet on the 6th and she had to cancel and didn't come in to work that day. We met on the 7th and I think she was going to try to go home early because she was till not feeling very well. Also, there were atleast 5 other weddings during the time that we were there so she was busy busy busy! Daniela was there also and although I didn't deal with her at all during the planning I LOVED her when I met her. If you guys can email with her I bet she'd be great also. She was very happy and upbeat. I loved her personality!

I was just curious what everybody is doing for music - ceremony, reception etc.
I am thinking about doing a strings ensemble of some sort for the ceremony but worry about them being drowned out by the waveshuh.gif

I would love to hear what everybody else is thinking about doing.
We burned cd's for the ceremony and one to play before the ceremony when everyone was being seated. They played them at the right times and they were very loud. This was not an extra charge. It is included. We used our ipod for the reception and it was awesome. It was VERY windy while we were there which might affect the sound during the ceremony, but for us it was ok.

When i asked about candle lighting ( i love tons of candles too) Elisa told me that the best ones are hurrican candles because the tealights tend do blow out easily since there is such a strong breeze on the terrace. I also want to find out how to dim the terrace lights. I was thinking maybe paper lanterns? Someone posted some LED paper lanterns (I need to find that thread again) Hmm fanny maybe we could split the cost since you are there right before me??

I am leaning towards a paper OOT bag. I don't know yet- again it's a bout minimal packing for me so we'll see.
We went with the paper bags for the oot bags and they worked out great. I just made cute name tags for them and stuck a logo sticker on them. Guests loved them and most had already brought a beach bag with them so they didn't need anything more. Oh, and you might want to look into those battery tea light candles. We used them in the centerpieces I brought down and they look totally real. We also used battery paper lanterns and they looked so cute hanging on the terrace.

We had emailed Perla a few days ago and asked if we needed to bring any cords or wires for the ipod to connect to there sound system.

She replied "you will need to rent a sound system"; but we thought this was included?

Can anyone from past expereinces or in the know about this IPOD situation at the PRC speak to this?

I guess we need to know if we need too bring anything else for the IPOD?

We also need to know what exactly the PRC does for people who use IPODs? what the sound system is like and there experince?

Thanks,
Julia & Ryan

We all done; see you there except for this

see you there
Do you have a docking station for it? My MIL brought her bose down and we used the ipod on that. It was perfect for what we needed and definitely loud enough. Not to mention free.. :)

We're also planning on having the classical three peice band play for the ceremony and the steel drummer for the cocktail hour. Anyone hear anything about these guys? When we were down there we got to hear the guitarist play the ceremony, but unfortunately that was it. Oh and John's favorite part, a cigar rolling station. It's all so expensive, but we figure we're only gonna do it once right??

Has anyone used mannia as their DJ company or heard anything about them?? Sorry if these are redundant questions, but I'm new to the site and still getting familiar with it.

Thanks!

I reallly wanted to get a cigar roller as a surprise gift for my FI but it was WAY too expensive for me. Especially since we only had 28 guests and only maybe 12 would have a cigar. Once we got to the resort I found that they had a guy each night in the lobby selling really good cigars so my brother bought a really nice box of cubans and gave them to FI at the reception and he shared with everyone. It worked perfectly and saved like 600 dollars!

Congratulations Kelly! Your photos are so pretty!

I had a question for those of you who have seen a wedding (or have been married) on the beach. I was hoping to have my father-in-law play his guitar at the ceremony. Do you think the waves and wind will be too loud and that a microphone & speakers will be needed? I was hoping that he could just play and it would be fine.

What do you think?

Thanks!

Meredith

Thanks Meredith! I think that it may depend on the size of your group. If you have a small group and he can possibly move around while he is playing, it should be ok. With a larger group it may be more difficult for everyone to hear, especially if he stands in one place (but if he can move around it might be ok still). It was REALLY windy some of the time that we were there and it really drowned out a lot of the sound.

Hi girls, I have a couple of questions ...

First, I was wondering if anyone knew if there are any other ceremony locations besides the beach.

Second I was wondering if anyone knew whether the PRC had any of those beautiful rattan or bamboo aisle runners.

Thanks - and congratulations Kelly! You looked beautiful!!

Kelly your pics are gorgeous!

Has anyone used the mariachis that paradisus provides? How were they? The price tag is steep for 45 min IMO- as I have said before and I have been working on using an outside vendor (I'll keep you posted.. still figuring that out). Kelly, Missy, Rebecca? I can't remember hearing about that in your reviews. In some cases it's worth paying the outside vendor fee because it's still significantly cheaper than the paradisus rate so I was just wondering what everyone else was planning to do...
