Same here! Thank you for this thread. I have read all 18 pages and have thought about it so much. I just don't think I should spend the money at EDR because it's only going to be me and my FH. I hear from my TA that we do not get the free wedding because it is just us. :-( We will have to spend an extra $3500. :-( So, I am bummed.....

I spoke with a few photographers about negotiating down their prices - they all stated that EDSS sets the rates for the photographers and that if you want to negotiate them down you had to go through Lomas (the planning company).

This is ridiculous! The photographers cannot even choose to cut their rates because the hotel won't let them. this means I lose out because I can't afford the photographer, and the photographers loses out because they can't even put in a competitive bid.

Uggg....at least Karisma wins....

I just hope when people are doing their reseach they look at all the information but not just the "sticky"s. Every other week there is a new resort being complained about regarding a new outside vender policy or new fees those resorts are charging. Perhaps there should be a sticky of all those resorts or a call to boycott them.

This is just my opinion and I am clearly biased but it really should be changed. I loved EDR and I hope people will look at ALL the happy brides who got married there.

Pryzeless, Thanks for posting this...I'm getting married in May at EDR despite what is written in this thread. I am SO happy with my decision because my wedding coordinator is great and I know so many other brides have been happy there. Plus, I've visited the resort before and it is gorgeous...I can't wait! I think you are right a lot of other resorts have similar issues.

The reason this thread was started was to get EDR to work with brides to change the policies. And because of it, the policies were changed. It's really not such a bad thing that this thread was started.

But apparently now, no outside vendors are allowed anymore. That sucks 'cause I was thinking of getting Elizabeth Medina and bringing in a salsa band and don't want to settle with what the hotel offers.
I just went to a wedding at The Royal and I know the bride hired an outside photog. They just had a symbolic ceremony so I am not sure if that had anything to do with it.

Hi, yes I have been in contact with Zulma and as of last week:

Outside photographers and videographers cost $100 each person. Outside Music/Band is no cost. Thank god because the salsa band has over 10 people in it.
