I thought I'd be happier...

It's especially difficult for full figured brides who can't have it pinched to fit to give an idea.

I mean, how many different styles are there altogether? The detailing doesn't matter. Surely enough larger sized brides have come through these salons who have bought gowns. I would really be impressed if a shop offered something like that.

I'm short and fat and I know there's probably nothing that would fit well enough to give me an idea of how I would look.

Petunia, I agree with you. While I know it wouldn't be realistic to have one of everysize, I think if they offer certain dresses in the "W" sizes for full figured women, then they should have a sample in that size range for us to try on, rather then squeezing into something taht is not even close, no one looks good squeezed into things.

Here it is. It is a beautiful dress, a little more simple than what I thought I wanted, but again, I felt rushed and pressured due to the availability dates I was being given. I am having the straps removed, and if it comes in with enough time, I am thinking about having it altered to be a corset back instead of a zip, not sure how it would look though, but I LOVE the corset back dresses.

I had the same issue, I went dress shopping with my mom and two sisters and it was HELL. I thought they were all just fine (Big white dresses are not really my thing) My mom and sisters had to tell me which one (out of the 100+ that I tried on) was "The One" When I got my dress it came in too big and I was not very excited about it, I guess it is growing on me but I dont get those butterfly feelings about it. I still have not had my fitting, so hopefully that will help. But really I don't think dress shopping is for everyone!

I think once you get it and it's in your size and try it on; you will fall in love. It took me over a year of dating my husband before I fell in love. :) and that's a lifetime - a dress is maybe a couple wearings.

I agree with the size thing. We are not all size zeros but the brides in the magazines and on the websites are, so we get a picture of what we'll look like in a particular dress and when we don't - we think there's something wrong with us. Some of the stores do carry dresses in various sizes, but why is it the one you love isn't in one of them?

All brides look beautiful on their wedding day in the eyes of those who love them. Don't stress it.
