The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

Recommended Posts

Thanks, Sunbride! I know I had a lot of questions...I just have more things swirling around in my head now that I'm leaving in less than 2 weeks--and my Mom keeps asking me things!

Still wondering about the dress codes for restaurants...do the guys need to be in slacks or can they wear jeans?

I know somewhere on this forum there was a discussion about bringing all of the welcome stuff down there, just can't remember where. Maybe on another thread? Would it be too suspicious to bring all of our welcome bag stuff down in boxes rather than luggage?

I do remember there is a bride this fall who paid the new price even though they had booked with the old guide, but she said she didn't bother arguing about it and figured that if she had they might have given it to her.

Although it does say in the guide price subject to change, so they do have the right, but still I think it's not very fair if you've made arrangements based on a certain price.
Thanks ladies! I'll definitely make sure to print the emails showing when I booked in early 2008 and the one where Lizet says I can have the old prices and hope for the best.

Here's a DUMB question for you all. Some of you may have read my post a while ago where my IT guy at work permanently deleted my wedding folder on my work computer (d'oh!). As a result, I lost a bunch of my wedding planning files. I've managed to work my way back to having mostly everything, but there's one thing I can't seem to figure out. I re-downloaded (made-up word perhaps!) the 2007/2008 and 2008/2009 wedding guides from page 1 of this thread (thanks SunBride!) but one thing is confusing me. How come there are no menu descriptions in the 2008/2009 wedding guide? Am I being dumb or is this information somewhere else? Neen was just talking about the 5 course versus 4 course meal optins in the two guides but I can't seem to find the 5 course menu options anywhere. Can someone please help me out. My brain isn't working very well this morning. Thanks! embarrest.gif

When we were at Dreams PA we were able to wear jeans to all the restaurants...I would assume that they are the same

I like where your mind is at! In fact, I should bring all of my correspondence with the staff down there...just in case.

Oh, and I should've known Lizet wasn't there anymore...too much restructuring!

The menu info is on the website. Don't ask me why it's not in the guide!

Dreams Tulum Resorts & Spas: Wedding Extras

The dress code varies by restaurants, check out more info here:

Dreams Tulum Resorts & Spas: Dining

Right in between the section about the restaurants and then about teh bars, there is a "click here" link that opens a little pop up window about the dress code.

But note that not all restaurants abide by the dress code all the day.

Gohan, Himitsu and Bordreau are the more fancy ones. Men are suppose to wear long pants.

It doesn't specify about jeans, and nobody in my group tried, they all wore dress pants. I think your guests could likely get away with it (especially if they are overall nicely dressed, i.e. nice jeans, nice shirt, rather than old torn jeans and t-shirt) but you may want to tell them to bring a pair of dress pants in case they get sent back to their room to change. This is rare, but I have heard of it happening at a variety of different resorts.

I hate not being able to edit after an hour, I always write stuff that doesn't make sense.

I meant to say that not all restaurants abide by the dress code all the time. Some employees will be strickter than others. So a man may get in with sandals one night and then the next time be told to go put on some closed toe shoes.

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I am thinking about getting married at dreams tulum, and I am hoping that some of you can answer these questions! haha im definately a newbie!

1) Does dreams tulum do more than one wedding per day? If so, what is this like.. I'm not a bridezilla.. but I really don't think I would want to share my day with another bride (ie.. one wedding at 3, one at 5).. and then for the dinner part.. having two wedding dinners across the pool doesn't sound very good to me.. if anybody could shed some light, I would really appreciate it!

2) We think we will have between 50 and 70 people come. Is this too much for dreams?

3) What is the best place to hold your dinner? I have never been to dreams and won't be able to go down prior to the wedding.. so any info/suggestions would be so appreciated!

4) Can you swim at the beach?

Thank you! I hope this isn't the wrong place to post.. I'm new and so excited, and you guys seem to know so much! I'm hoping to get married in early january 2010 (if there are any dates available!).. I have so many questions.. so if anybody can answer them either here, or email me at [email protected] I would really appreciate it!

thanks!

hey there - your questions can be answered by reading the first couple pages of this thread...Sunbride did such a great job compiling all the info so be sure to check it out! But for quick reference:

1) DT allows 2-3 wedding per day. It used to be 3, now its 2, but if brides booked before the change of policy you could still wind up with 3 brides on the same day. Sblake and I are getting married one hour apart at the same location on the beach, but we have separate reception sites on the resort...I really don't think its going to be a problem, but if its important to you to be the only bride on your days, DT may not be the place for you...you could check out Paradisus Riviera Cancun (they only do one wedding per day)

2) DT can handle as many guests as you can muster! We have a bit over 60 and our reception location (the Seaside Grill) can easily accommodate that many.

3) There are several reception location options at DT, including El Patio (open air terrace), Seaside Grill (open air, yet enclosed resturaunt...if that makes sense), and the ballrooms in the new convention facility they built last year. Pics of all these spots can be found on the first few pages on the thread.

Good luck!

Hi JaWeddings- I second what Need said. WE had 70 guests and they easily accommodated us. It was wonderful!

OSCAR/VIDEOGRAPHER FROM DT

Ladies- i wanted to let you all know, I got my DVD from Oscar (the resort videographer) on Friday. We arranged through Landy to have an extra hour with him because we weren't using the photographer that came with the Ultimate package. Then we also paid for another hour, I think. I think it was an extra $150 bucks for this. And boy was it worth it!! We told Landy to tell him that we wanted to hear the words in the ceremony, speech, etc. Some of the samples of his work just had music playing the whole time. That's nice and all but we wanted to remember and capture what was really happening. SO he did a great job mixing a bit of both. We got 2 DVDs - part 1 and part 2. Some of the set up, the entire ceremony, some of our photo shoots, cocktail hour, our introduction, first dance, all the speeches, some of dinner, the mother/son, father/daughter dances and a teeny bit of everyone dancing. it was GREAT. He also included (the first chapter) is a bunch of shots of DReams Tulum. Its funny- he clearly uses that same clip with every DT bride because the shots were defintiely not taken while we were there (for example there is no dolphin statue in the pool in his shot!). Its kind of funny but its just the first chapter (first few minutes) of the first dvd. I have to say I"m pretty happy with the work.

I have it on DVD and its well over an hour long. We didnt get any 5 minute short clip. I'm not very computer savvy but I'll try to figure out how to create little clips from it. Anyway, let me know if any one has any questions about it.

We still do not have our pro pics from Citalli (from Claudia Rodriguez group). She said around Jan 10th so they should be in this week. HOPEFULLY! Will keep you posted and post when I get them!
