Hey Shannon,

I didn't get that far into the planning yet. Going from memory I think I read somewhere it was about $100. I am not sure. I think it also depends on what package you choose. Please let me know if you find out any details.

Thanks!

Hey guys how long in advance were you able to book your travel and your wedding? All the travel agents here in Toronto aren't giving me any firm pricing and said not to expect anything until April.

I want to send out my invites as soon as possible to get people thinking and planning their savings. Should I just contact Zulma and reserve the date (I am thinking mid January 2010 sometime) and then worry about the travel arrangements after?

I booked my wedding date / locations at the Royal 14 months in advance. For my wedding we never had to put down any deposits but I think that may have changed from other bride replies. Flights are typically not available until 9-10 months out...even shorter for airlines like Southwest.

Thanks. I just called Zulma and actually got a hold of her. She was busy though and was put on hold for a while so that sucked; I could hear a bunch of bridezillas b!tching in the background. But some of the info I needed was sent to me to do the booking.

Hi everyone! This is such a great thread, so much information and support from each other :)

I have been trying to look for an all-adults resort that would allow kids for the wedding/reception, and then I found this thread! We are planning to have the wedding in early Dec. 09, does anyone know how busy it gets at the Royal PDC this time of the month?

Also, has anyone received an actual confirmation recently from the WC saying that kids are still allowed? I was on tripadvisor and read how the resort changed from family-oriented to adults-only in 2006... basically they didn't give the wedding couples any notice, so most of them had to do huge last minute changes... anyway, I just wondered if their policy re: kids on the wedding day is still the same. I emailed one of the WC but still no reply. Thanks!

Hi Bcbride, yes kids are still allowed for the wedding day only. This is included in all of the resort materials i've seen. I'm getting married there early November and was told it is a off-peak time for the resort. I guess it depends when in Dec you want to get married. If it's towards to holiday season when people on are break, there it probably is busier during those weeks.

Hi Royal PDC brides! I'm actually getting married at Azul Sensatori, but I LOVE the beach reception set-up that I've seen at the Royal. I've been searching and searching for non-pro pics of the set-up that I can email to the wedding coordinator at the Azul so they can look into it for me. I've read that the Royal uses Cancun Events & Weddings, but I can't seem to find a website for them? I would totally appreciate any info/pics that anyone could PM me?

Thanks in advance!

PS...I stayed at the Royal a couple years ago and saw a wedding (one of the contestants from the Apprentice!) and it was gorgeous! Would have loved to have chosen this resort myself but the kids thing was a problem.

Hi there

I can also confirm that kids are allowed on the day of the wedding and the great thing is that their sister hotel The Gran Porto is right across the street and the Royal guests can use their restaurants. My niece and nephew are coming and though I wish my sister could be right in my hotel it is so close that I am not going to allow it to bother me or anyone else. I scouted both hotels and the gran is also very nice, just not as upscale. I was there in 08 during Thanksgiving week and most of the hotels we went to were dead, like hardly anyone around. Once we got to the royal and gran porto in the town itself it was bustling but I assume still fairly slow for these 2 very busy hotels.

Hey Girls!

I've been off and on here for a bit over the past few months, but I am also planning a wedding at the Royal for June 20, 2009. We have a few people coming with children too, but they all are fine with making arrangements at the Gran Porto (sister facility to the Royal). We plan to go over there and visit with them during their stay, which will be nice.

I have have some questions and wanted to see if anyone had answers since it can be very challenging to get responses from the wedding coordinators. Does anyone know what the Royal provides as a standard setup on the tables for the reception? I was just wondering since I wasn't sure if we had to bring our own votives/candles.

Also, this is sort of random, but does anyone know how we are suppose to pay once we are down there? The D.J. requested cash, our photographer requested cash or American Express travelers checks. I just wanted to make sure the Royal didn't have specifics on how they need to be paid. Wouldn't want to show up there and not have the right form of $$. And I certainly didn't want to travel with that much cash.

What sort of decorations are people using for the gazebo setup? I wanted to add a little something to the gazebo for the ceremony, but make sure it was easy to pack. Would love to hear about other people's decoration ideas or what they plan to pack with them. Are you all planning on doing OOT bags too? Thanks so much!
