Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

Recommended Posts

Hi Dreams Cancun ladies!!

I was wondering if any of you would have an answer to a few questions.

1. Is the ceremony private? Or can anyone on the beach come and watch?

2. Is the reception private? Or are you with other hotel guests?

I think all my other questions have been covered in this post, so if anyone could answer these 2 that would be great!!

Gazebo location:
I wouldn't say that the ceremony is completely private, but pretty close. The location is beautiful. The gazebo is set back quite aways (maybe 150 yards...although I'm not very good with distances) from the Club Tower. This is the quiet part of the resort..far from the large pool, lobby, and main entertainment areas. It's kind of like the back side and when we were there last Oct. there was basically no one over on that side. If I remember correctly, there are no room balconies facing this area. You could have a few gawkers, but they would be quite far away and shouldn't interfer with your ceremony in any way. Your guests will be facing a very private ocean area with some lovely rock formations (and no possibility of swimmers/kayakers, etc. in view).
Beach location:
I didn't actually see a ceremony at this site, but I know they do them on the small, private beach also located at the back side of the resort (near the gazebo). The beach is very small, and not accessible from other hotels. I am sure they would clear this area of any Dreams guests that may be there at the time of your ceremony. Most guest would not be in this area anyway...they would be by the bigger beach located nearer the pool/lagoon. Once again, I do not believe there are any balconies that overlook that area.

As far as the reception goes, there are a few different locations to choose from. The indoor ballroom would be completely private. The beach reception would be in the same area as the beach ceremony. The garden reception site is near the gazebo, and the terrace reception site overlooks the small pool. When we were there, they politely asked all guests to exit the terrace area in preparation for the cocktail hour.

This a resort, and there is always potentail for onlookers, but I think Dreams does a great job of making it feel pretty private a personal. One thing to consider is the time of year you are getting married. Like I said, we were there in Oct. during "low" season, and the resort was no where near capacity. If your wedding is during "high" season, there will obviously be more potential for onlookers!

Hope this helps.

For cakes, I think the 3 choices are on the survey, I don't know if they have more options.

I was thinking of getting the tres leches cake since everyone said its so good, but steve said no way, we're not having anything made with milk in mexico, not a good idea. Which I'm sure is not a big deal, but he's adamant no milk in mexico, lol, so I guess we'll got with vanilla, for some reason though I thought the other choice was chocolate not vanilla, I hope its chocolate, I love chocolate, lol. Okay enough rambling.

When we visited Dreams, I spoke with a bride that got married the day before and specifically asked her about the cake. She stated that the milk cake was runny and overly wet. The very next day (at the buffet), I saw a slice of milk cake and I could tell it's extremely moist. I think I am going to request vanilla cake, two layers and call it a day.

yeah, I'm kind of picturing it tasting like soggy bread, which is not really a favorite of mine, lol! But a lot of girls have said its really good, but we'll be going with the vanilla cake. I really could care less about the cake!
