Riu MoBay and Ocho Rios photographer question

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I was just about to decide on what package I was going to choose from the Riu MoBay photographer Michael (something) at PHOTOSHOP and send it all in so that I'm sure to have a photographer, but I'm kind of confused by the confirmation form and the pricelist. Has anyone filled this form out before from ROR or RMB that could help me to figure out what these packages are all about?

Thank-you in advance!

Hiya!

I recently returned from ROR and hopefully I can help you.

I personally requested 2 additional hours of photography and 50 pictures on a CD. I had the Royal Package so I also got 25 mins of photography included.

I sent in my confirmation via email as to what I wanted. After the ceremony etc. I was able to view all 846 pics Michael took. I was told to pick the 12 pics I wanted printed and then 50 I wanted on the CD. I ended up picking a total of 91 photos and then the 12. I got a total of 103 pics on the CD, 12 pics printed and all the low res pics (846 in total) on the CD. You can't print the low res but you can go through them at home and order more through the photoshop via email.

I paid for the original package I wanted when I got there and then paid for the additional 41 pics after we looked at them. I was able to break up part of my 2 additional hours by having them come after dinner for cake cutting pics and 15 minutes in both of our rooms before the ceremony. I'm almost positive I went over by close to 30 minutes in time but was not charged anything extra.

So, go with what you want to start off with and other than the additional time needed you can change it when you get there or even after the ceremony. The additional time is what you need to be more concerned about. They have alot of weddings they do so need to know in advance.

I personally liked the idea of printing my own pics this way I print only what I want. I also think the 2 hours was enough time.

HTH!

That clears up a part of it for me. Thank-you for that! - I'm sure your trip was amazing! congratulations and thanks again for your help Ellipse22!!

Now I guess my only confusion is in the two sets of packages. I have the free wedding through Riu. Does that mean that I have to get the initial "free" package listed on the photographer's price list? There's a package on page 1 that says that the initial package for the free wedding is $180 USD but it doesn't say what that includes. It kind of looks like a booking fee but it doesn't make sense to me that it would cost more to book him based on the wedding package you chose through Riu. I know that the Royal and Caprice packages include the photographer but why is the Classic more expensive than the free if it's just a booking fee?

Then on the 4th page there are packages called the Head Photographer's package which say that the free package includes initial package + 2 hours and then a few other things like an album, prints and some on CD and that's $870 USD. I can't find anywhere on there that says how much time is included in the initial package.

I feel bad posting all these questions but I want to understand it a bit better before I contact him to ask some hopefully somewhat educated questions. Thanks so much!!

Ok, he sent me the same price list. The initial package includes 45 minutes. The free cost $180 and you get 6 prints. The Classic cost $210 and you get 10 prints. If you are doing doing the Free wedding package over to the left of the chart it says you can choose between the free & classic picture package. The Classic is more because you get 4 more prints for a total of 10. So say you go do the Head package then you will have 2 hours plus the 45 minutes in the initial package so a total of 2 hours 45 minutes. I hope this helps. I had to look it over a few times also. Still deciding on if I will need an extra hour or two.

Oooooohhhhhhhhh, haha! Now I feel really dumb! That makes so much sense now. I'm a little embarassed cause I didn't realize that all that info was in the same table for the initial package since it's seperated into what looks like a different table. Thank you sooooo much!

I'm trying to decide if I want the extra time too. I don't think I'd need a full 2 hours extra though. maybe just an hour and I can pay for that seperately...I figured that much out!

thanks again!

Personally, I think you will need 2 hours. I had 2 hours & 25 mins and I was able to get everything that I wanted. Pics prior to the ceremony, ceremony, beach & cake cutting. That's just my personal opinion though. Also, I know I went over the 2+ hours and he didn't charge me extra.

Just my thoughts ;-)

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking an hour extra would do cause I'm not really big on having him there for the reception and cutting the cake and all that traditionaly stuff. I am more than happy relying on my guests to take pictures of that cause I really don't care about that stuff anyway. But I really do want him to get pics of everyone getting ready beforehand so maybe I'll reconsider how much time I book him for. Thanks!

So I too have the same price list and some questions also. It is only going to be me and FI so I am wondering if an hour extra is enough time, or do we need more? Also, I can't even begin to determine how many pictures to buy? Did anyone use Michael for a DVD? Was it worth it? Your opinions are appreciated!

If it's only the 2 of you then I would say that 1 hour is fine. I had just over 2 hours of photography time and I had to go through 850 pics to narrow it down to 50 pics on CD. I ended up getting a total of 103 (12 included in package and 91 extra).

So, if it's just the 2 of you I wouldn't go for more than 50 pics on the cd. We went over because we had 4 other ppl with us and liked alot of the shots they were in. You could go with a smaller package of pics on cd and just upgrade when you are there as well..you might get a bit of a deal too ;-)

Just my thoughts ;-)
