Vegas Hotels: the good & BAD!

Recommended Posts

LV Hilton - Nice, comfortable but off the strip. My family does a Ladies Trip and charter a bus every year so we always stay here since its affordable.

Paris - I liked this hotel. Pool area was nice, rooms were nice. I loved the decor.

Ceasar's Palace- LOVED the pool area but very crowded.

Excaliber, Flamingo, Imperial Palace- went as a kid so I don't remember much, but I don't think I'd opt to stay there any time soon.

Bally's- Depends what tower you get. Nice rooms in the newer tower, but the old tower had horrible furniture and stunk. I don't like their pool at all, but the rest of the hotel was nice.

Tropicana- Hated it. went for work once (yes, when I worked for the Boys and Girls Clubs!) The pool as dirty and our room had a sliding glass door that went directly to the parking lot!

Aladdin in 04 - It was fine, we were only there for a few hours to sleep and were at the casino a little bit.

The Venetian this Feb, for a conference. Very nice hotel, nice rooms, a little too ornate for my taste, but definitely a lot of room in the suites. I was in the newer tower, Venezia, which seemed miles away from the shopping and the conference area, has its own pool and front desk. I liked the casino. Hated the pillows! Argh! Had them bring me one that was not feather, but was still hard to sleep on. There is so much to do at The Venetian.

Treasure Island also this Feb, after 4 nights at The Venetian, the beds at TI were just wonderful! They also had feather pillows that I didn't care for at all. The room we got was much smaller, but I enjoyed the hotel, the restaurants, the clubs, the casino and the location. There is a tram to the Mirage next door and the Fashion Mall is on the other side. It is across the bridge from The Venetian. It is just a quick walk from the forum shops at Ceasar's. Next year we may somewhere else just for the experience, but would definitely recommend TI.

Rachelle, its not the same one. The one we stayed at was not on the strip but they have those disney type monrails that stops there and lets you avoid taxis (and walking) to the strip. Las Vegas Hilton hotel Las Vegas Nevada - Las Vegas, NV Hotel Resort

The one you listed looks nicer!

Alright

TI - I loved it... but, it's at the end of the strip. Not a big deal

Binons - OK, STAY AWAY! We were there over Super Bowl Sunday last year, for a friends wedding. On Super Bowl Sunday, all hotels were booked except this one... and it was only $20 a night. Bonus. YEAH RIGHT! I would have paid $500 NOT to stay there. I was terrified! The casino part is just fine, but our room scared me. The bathroom was awful, the bed had burn holes every where along with a lot of long hairs. It was filthy and bad. I actually stayed out quite late that night so I wouldn't have to sleep in that bed. And when I did go to sleep, I put on a long sleeve shirt, long pants, full crew socks. And i wrapped the pillow in a t-shirt. It was bad.

Fitzgeralds - this is where the wedding reception was held and where we spent the rest of our trip. I must say, for an old hotel, I thought it was lovely. Very large rooms, with GREAT views. It was nice. The reception was nice I guess. It was $75 a plate though... TOTALY not worth it. I actually didn't like the food at all.

Cool, thanks for the info!

I agree, great pics Tina!! I was laughing at the part where you mentioned your "hot cousin". My best friend and I are going out there together and meeting her "hot cousin" there! It just made me laugh that it seems everyone has their own resident hot cousin! lol! ;-)

Ok, so this is actually going to be my very first Vegas trip...anything "must do" items I should know about? Reccomendations for late night eating, great brunch, shopping etc?

Let me know!! :-)

They have a new mall, which is awesome. I guess it's not that new, but still. It's down towards Circus Circus. It's really nice. They also have a nice outlet mall that's a little off the strip.

For entertainment, there is such a variety of things to do! If you don't want to spend money, then spend a night walking the strip. There is the volcano show, the Ballagio water show, the MGM has some stuff... it's fun.

As far as eating goes, it all depends on what you are looking for and how much you want to spend! I enjoy eating downtown. I find it more adventurous... however that could lead to gastronomical difficulties!! :)

Do to stress overload my FI and i are thinking about getting hitched in Vegas and hosting a dinner (not a reception) at a restuarant in vegas any suggestions? not too pricey since we are paying but not cheesy either. Looked at some of the restuarants at the Venetian pretty but may be a little expensive. Any locals have an idea nice steakhouse 20-40 per person for dinner?
