Holy Crap! I just looked at tickets. For the swearing ceremony it starts at $600 to $6825!! Barack Obama Inaugural Tickets | 2009 Presidential Inauguration.

According to another website they will passing tickets out to Congress and US Reps first. Obama Inauguration: Tickets, Hotels, and Everything Else

I'm now thinking of holding a small get together for friends and family so we can watch this as I highly doubt we can we attend (as much as I would love to attend).

I'd LOVE to go...not sure if we'd be able to swing it either considering the hotel prices so far...we may have to just have people come over as well!

You need tickets for the area very close to the podium. Tickets are running up to $20000. Although, if you buy a ticket its buyer beware. Tickets are being sold by suppliers who are getting them, although they don't have the tickets yet and its not set in stone how many they will get, so they may sell more than they actually have. Of course there is room there for people w/out tickets quite a ways back. If you are there in time you can still get in. I just watched all of this on cnn us reps and congressman are not allowed to sell the tickets, but most of them have there tickets spoken for years in advance.

We saw him here and waited about 6 hours to actually get in and be upfront and then to get back out. It was CRAZY!!! Someone sent there baby down through the crowd to him and he kept the baby til he could find the parents. Some of you may have seen pictures of this, it was INSANE!

I am going, I booked my hotel & flight after the election on tues night

I am so excited!!! I am staying in BWI -Inner Harbor. I was told by a state rep do not buy tickets, it's a scam. You should contact your state rep to request tickets. Otherwise just show-up and be apart of history on Jan 20!!!

That's what i'm thinking. I feel like no matter what we actually get to see, it's worth it to be in DC on Inauguration day. Mr. Buzzkill at my job was telling me it was a stupid idea, that we would never get tickets, and it would be too crowded.... Whatev! We still have time to make a plan. it'll be cold, and we won't have anywhere to stay, but I'm not worried about that. It's possibly the most historic day in my lifetime, and I want to witness it.

I think its definitely worth going, even if you don't actually get to see him. It's something when you're 60+ looking back on highlights in your life, this event will be one of them.

Definitely don't buy tickets! Brokers are getting them from congressman & US reps and selling them, but they don't technically have them yet. And you even as a buyer could be prosecuted they are now saying.
