So, technically, I should not have been covered under my husband's insurance before we were married because the state refutes domestic partnership.

I know that everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion. My advice is to be sure that you are an informed and responsible voter before you head to the polls.
That is so ironic. The company I used to work for allowed me to cover my FI as a household member and pay extra for his coverage, but the company I had to apply with when I was outsourced, would only cover a household member in a gay relationship. Their theory was if you are capable of getting married but choose not to, they would not cover a non-spouse.

i really think this will be the shameful issue we look back on for our generation. it's our generations civil rights act.
Very well said Morgan!

this is a major issue on a lot of bills/props. some people look at a decision, and decide/vote the way that THEY wish it was, instead of voting for other peoples RIGHTS.

morgan i completely agree with you on that statement! for example: in WA we had an issue on the ballot about "death with dignity". so many people are so quick to say it should not be allowed, because they dont want it to be. but they dont stop to think that someone ELSE may want that choice.

i'm not God or the final judge on anything, so even tho something (not necessarily same sex marriage, or Dw/D, but on any subject) may not be right for me,that does not mean its not right for someone else, and who am i to make their decision for them? kwim?

That is exactly how I feel!!! How the hell are we to tell someone else how to live their lives? I really feel like issues like same sex marriages, etc should never be an issue to begin with. Just because you/I believe something is wrong does not mean that it is wrong for everyone and that no one should be allowed to do it.

I am voting NO on Prop 8 and most of my family and friends are doing the same.

When people ask me "Aren't you scared your son will learn about same-sex marriage". This is what I say. First they don't teach about marriage in school! Ask my 12 year old son! Second I believe everyone has the right to marry whom ever they wish and "church/religion" needs to stay out of politics.

Last I want my son to treat everyone the same and not judge anyone by the color of their skin, their religion or their sexual orientation.

What's wrong with a child learning about same sex marriage? If children are treated like this is something that is too much for them to know about, then that is where the discrimination and judgment will start. Children should be taught that love is what makes families and marriages and that there are many different types of families out there. If kids are aware of the diversity out there, then there wont be so much conflict on this topic when they are adults. I think I'm just rambling...

My rambling is not directed towards anyone here, but its just my thoughts regarding people that think that exposing kids to the concept of same sex marriages is an issue.

Exactly!

My step-daughter has been "exposed" to many gay couples due to me. I have a lot of gay friends and work for an AIDS organization. Anyhow, when I told her my good friends Mark & Marc were getting married she was so happy for them. She didn't even ask or question the fact they were two men. She is 10 years old and has such a strong viewpoint on Prop 8, I am very proud of her.
