I know exactly what you mean. I had an ex that just would never go away. We had a crazy dramatic relationship, and he always still had something on me, and I on him. I met up with him a few months before I met my husband for fear that he was "the one" for me and we met, and it felt like old times. But the old times were what didn't work out. So, I don't know. I am a big beleiver in exes are exes for a reason. Don't look back except with fond memories. Cuz you can't GO back. You are both different people now, with different lives. And you love your FI.

I think I would not respond to him at all. If you respond, even saying something like "happily engaged now" or whatever, it's opening the possibility for a conversation. And I just think that's a tricky road to go down.

If you are willing to risk the stability tha tyou have with FI, then by all means, follow your heart. But if you love FI and want to marry him and have him trust you, I would ignore the texts. How do you think he would feel if he knew how conflicted this made you.

You def are in a touch situation though, so I don't envy you that. Good lcuk with whatever you chose!

Ok, so everything I wrote is null at this point, but I just read the entire thread and saw you already handled it! Job well done!

Well...my FI is my blast from the past so I'm a little biased on this topic!! I was not engaged or even in love with my bf at the time so it was no contest!!

My FI and I dated off and on for 2 years in university, lost touch for 6 years & got back in touch through a mutual friend. We've been together ever since!!! (just meant to be!!)

When all this happened I thought, what if FI was going through this situation? OMG, I would just die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember that my ex was always in to himself. The womanizer.--why I was attracted to him, i have no idea!doh.gif-- And then one night it was all turned around on me. Again, no memory of that night!
When we were together I drank all the time to just "deal" with him & the insecurities he made me feel. How healthy was that!?!?
This past weekend I caught myself just staring at my FI and I can't imagine
my life without him!
Screw the ex! I'm with the love of my life & will not let anyone or anything come in between us! And we are getting MARRIED!! pinkie.gif

Im sure he realized what a great thing he had with you, but its a little too late. Just let him know that you are happily engaged and that its too bad things didn't work out and maybe in another life you two will meet! lol

If he doesnt respond or calls back, you know he definatley isnt worth it!

He will probably kick himself in the ass for taking this long to come back to you.

Good luck with that situation. I know how it feels when you feel so strong for another man that was in your past and no longer is in your present and future.

Yay, read this thread fully and I'm glad how it ended. I'm also glad you had a moment to really think about your relationship with your ex. I think it helped you maybe have some closure. You realized he treated you like shit, so in the end, you should THANK HIM for dumping you. :) Although, I'm sure you wish you could have done the honors.

Plus this just helped you appreciate your FI that much more. :)

So very true!!!! You know with the wedding plans going on and "real life" issues my FI and I have been really busy. Yesterday "the guys" were have a bbq & watching the games & usually I would just stay home but I decided to hang out with them. It was a good thing because I was reminded of why I fell in love with my FI. He is a good man who surrounds himself with good people. We had a fantastic time. He kept asking me if I was ok being that I was the only female there. Little did he know I was sitting back and thanking God for putting this wonderful man in my life.
It sounds weird but I'm glad my ex contacted me. I have no regrets of my past. NONE! And it feels great! :)
