Is it rude to send 2 diffrent types of invitations

Recommended Posts

I am considering sending one type of invite to all the invited guess which is about 100 people and another more intricate (more expensive) invite to the guest who actually booked their trip about 22 guest. Do you think thats rude?

We sent STD's to everyone & then only sent invites to those who rsvp'd yes, and then actually booked to come to the wedding.

Is that something that you think you could consider doing? That way, once your rsvp's start rolling in & people actually start booking, you know exactly how many invites you need & you can send the nice, intricate invites only to those people who will attend.

Wait, people are supposed to RSVP for STDs too? I thought that was just with the invite. I guess that would cut down on invites and if they are $5+ each that could be good.

LOL...Well, I did ask my guests to rsvp with the STD. That way, I had more of a head count & would know what I was dealing with in terms of making air/hotel reservations. Also, I sent out a letter with the air/hotel rates with the STD's so people knew how much the entire trip would cost. Being that we had our guests booking together as a group, it was important that we had some type of estimate & we knew who was in & who was out. Thats mainly why we asked for rsvp's when I sent out the STD's.

And yes, early rsvp's certainly helped when it came down to sending invites. Even though mine were DIY, I didn't overspend when it came to the materials that I used & helped. It also helped me in general with knowing how large my wedding related projects would be, in terms of how many oot bags I would potentialy have to make, the amount of items I'd put in them, how many raffia fans I'd have to make, how many favors I'd need...the list goes on.
Early numbers were important for me & it really does all add up!smile36.gif

I don't think its rude, but I do think like pp said you should make sure they aren't people who will compare or call each other to talk about them. I actually was short on the ribbon I was using to put around my invites, so I just put it on some of them. But I made sure that people who talk to each other got the same thing~ like FMIL and FI's grandma both got ribbon. His guys friends all got no ribbon, etc. So, they were the same for people who talked to each other. You'd be surprised at what people call each other to talk about, especially if they are excited to have received your invite!

if your intricate invite is something like a boarding pass then no i don't think it's rude. that type of invite implys the person is going.

if it's not a boarding pass, maybe just put something on the invite that makes it "i'm going to the wedding" specific. that way it doesn't look like you played favorites, but rather had an invite specifically for people going, to either give them more info or whatever.
