Yoga?

So my DH does Tai Chi but I really don't like it. And I've done Pilates and didn't really like it either. I've always wanted to try Yoga. I used to work in a Gym and was good friends with the Yoga instructor and I always liked her lifestyle she had. So I got some Yoga dvds, a yoga mat, belt, and Yoga blocks.

I wanted to know if anyone else does Yoga...if you like it, or have any tips. I'm not looking to get buff b/c I'm not that out of shape. I just want to de-stress, become more flexible, meditate and become more toned. Anyone love their Yoga dvd?

I do Yoga every once in a while and I love it. It calms and relaxes me. I have it on my WiiFit too. But it just feels like (to me) all negative or stressful feelings are behind you and nonexistence if your really concentrated.

I always feel good after I finish yoga.

I have been doing Yoga for years on and off but for the past year and a half I have been more consistent with it (2-4 x's a wk) and have seen a major difference in not only relaxation, concentrtion, flexibilty and strength.

The best advice I can give you is to go at your pace and your body will intuitevly pick it up. I go to a studio so I can't tell you a dvd but maybe watch it once to just see the poses and then you can work into it that way.

My yoga practice is something that comes in hand for me on a daily basis. I use the breathing all the time to relax or calm myself down.

Enjoy!

So I just order another dvd called Bend, Breathe and Conceive for fertility. It's suppose to help with conceiving. I heard great stuff about it. I also bought a book call Itsy Bitsy Yoga for me to do with the 10 month old I nanny. Its actually really neat to do with babies. For those interested.

I love yoga but there are so many different forms you need to find whats right for you. I hate Iyenger because you mostly work in couples. I think DVD's can be a bit dangerous because if you are in the wrong position you could do some serious damage.

If you really want to give it a go find a local class until you know exactly what you are doing. You will get the poses right and there is less risk of injury and also believe it or not you push yourself harder.

Its better than the gym for you thats for sure

Thanks for the tips. I actually use to work in a gym for four years and became good friends with the Yoga instructor. She was great. So I actually know the poses (most of them) and she taught me some great tips. I don't have the time, I wish I did or the money to go to Yoga classes which is why I got the DVD's so I can do it when I have the time. And the great thing about my husband is he adjusts me (he's a chiropractor) before I do Yoga so I'm moving the joints and muscles that I have problems with. So I don't sustain any new injuries. YAY!
