Our wedding planner is telling us that it is a legal requirement to undergo a blood test. That a doctor will come to the resort, draw our blood and deliver the results to the judge!!!!

Does this freak anybody else outhuh.gif

Or has anybody else had to do this?

I agree it is a little freaky and you have to be in Mexico I think 3 business days before your ceremony for it to be legal (or something like that). I know a lot couples (including us) will legally get married in the states before the ceremony in Mexico. that way you don't have to worry about the blood test and other requirements. A lot of people just go to the courthouse to get married or something very simple like that in the US because their "real" wedding is going to be days or weeks later in Mexico or the other country of choice.

We will also get married legally here to avoid blood tests, x-rays, etc. In Puerto Vallarta we would have to take some kind of class that they only have Wednesday mornings so we would have to get there Tuesday night for our wedding the next Monday. That did it for us, we're doing it legally here.

It's not a requirment in the Dominican Republic. That's part of the reason i didnt get married in Mexico, i was nervous about the blood test thing. But fsil did get married there and said it was no big deal. You could do what others did get married legally in states and do symbolic in Mexico.

I was really apprehensive when I heard about having to have a blood test but a friend of mine got married in February in Mexico and said it was such a simple process. She said that it was very professional, quick and easy. She assured me that there is nothing to worry about! I think that if you are on a 4 star resort or better that you have nothing to worry about...

i was a little freaked out about it at first, but then a friend of mine had gastric bypass surgery in mexico! i figure if she had a whole major surgery in mexico and is totally fine, then i shouldn't worry about a simple blood test.

the freaky part is can you imagine if one of you tested positive for something and couldn't be married? how mortifying! first you'd have to tell everyone the wedding was off ... and then the reason? awful!

i do have a question tho ... do they only do the blood tests on weekdays? because if so, i will have already spent 2 nights at an all-inclusive and i can only imagine what my blood-alcohol level will be! LOL
