Where is everyone registering?

Recommended Posts

My mom was shocked when I told her Macy's and not Dillards which is the main dept store in Dallas. But I think it's the most accessible to all my guests. I wasn't impressed when I went to Macy's the other day though... The guy in the registry dept knew absolutely NOTHING. Kind of disheartening....

That stinks! Our bridal consultant at macy's was unbelievable! We were so clueless and she was very patient and helpful (she spent hours with us). She was also well versed in china and crystal. Maybe just call the department and schedule an appointment with another consultant or go to the next closest store.

By the way, i don't think registering at Neimans is snooty at all. If that is where your china is then don't hesitate! Their website is easily accessible for those who don't have a store close by.

I think that we are definitly doing Linens n things. I was told that for whatever is not purchased on your registry you have a year after the wedding to buy stuff at a 20% discount. I don't know how true that is?! Also, most people get coupons in the mail for this store also so my guess it would help financially for your guests.

linens n things is CLOSING as far as i know. someone else posted here that they filed bankruptcy, which would mean it's not just my local store. i personally would not register there for that reason. bed bath & beyond is very similar, so you may want to consider them.

The great thing about registries is that your guests can buy stuff online. For example if you register at macy's people can still just buy you a gift without going into the store.

Casey, I don't think it's weird to register at two places...People will want to get you what you want!

Oh, I registered at Macys and REI (FH picked the REI one)

Yay for us!

so what if it "sounds" snooty ... all it means is you have expensive taste! :)

i say if they have the china you love, register for your china ONLY at neimans, and then choose a more affordable department store for most everything else. some people wouldn't be caught dead shopping somewhere like target for a wedding gift for fear of seeming cheap ... others may fall into the "it's the thought that counts" category and will be grateful for the more affordable option.

we figured everyone's spending so much just to attend the wedding ... so we registered at target. then again, i never wanted to register for fine china and such, as i already have a set from my grandmother that i never use! we need more of the "everyday" kinda stuff. if you want finer things, you have to go a little more upscale! wink.gif

I'm not sure where I should register. We have everything and I have three sets of china from my mother, my grandmother and great grandmother. I'm an only child.

We plan on registering for our honeymoon as we will be taking our honeymoon 1 year after the wedding. My mother in law suggested we register somewhere more traditional. Thoughts? I like Target and REI but I don't want to register for unwanted items that will sit in a cabinet for years.

I know what you mean. We live in New York and obviously don't have room to store all these gifts in a tiny apartment. My mom told me to register for what I see us needing a few years down the road when we move back to Dallas and into a house because if you are ever going to get any of this stuff, it might as well be now. Little does she know that I will have to store all this stuff at her house. LOL. So I guess I should register to King sized bedding when we really only have a Queen now? That seems weird to me. And how the heck am I supposed to know what king comforter I will like 3 years from now?!? I'm confused.

I'm registered at Bed, Bath and Beyond and love it. I was sooo surprised at their fine china collection. It's really nice! And they have these 20% discount coupons you can use for even Waterford, Lenox and Kate Spade stuff.

I've already returned some stuff without receipts and it hasn't been a problem. Plus, most of my guests bought our stuff online so they didn't even have to go to the store.
