ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Yup, our WC, Micaela, seemed to handle everything from getting me in my room, sending people down the aisle, getting the centerpiece to the reception, setting up the decor, etc. I pretty much did not see her after I walked down the aisle though! But everything seemed to work out fine and everything seemed pretty organized.

Hey Oscar Ernie!

Thanks for the welcome. I've caught up to page 17 so far.

It seems I went through a different process than the rest of you. I booked our date and package through Villa World, the Royal's management company and they DID require a $300 deposit to hold the date and wedding package we selected. Should I be concerned?

Also, does anyone know if you can change your package after you committed?

For those brides (with guests) flying out of Toronto, do you know if there are Sunday departures available in May? I have been getting quotes for Saturday departures only but since our wedding date is on a Friday, I would prefer the guests to not leave until Sunday.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to our little piece of the forum TightyWhitey!

Yup- just to check, I emailed Micaela about the decorated chuppa (I'm still in LOVE with it, but if they're plastic flowers, it might be easier for me to talk myself out of it!) and got her out of office that she wont be back until 9/15, but if you have an urgent issue to call +52 (984) 877-29-14. I wish my vacation time was that long! Three weeks! WOW!

How are you girls doing with your planning? I'm thinking I'm on the home stretch for Mexico stuff- now I need to get my butt in gear for the AHR!

Tatiyana, your wedding will be here before you know it! I'm so excited to here how it all goes. I just know it's going to be perfect!

We're still really up in the air about when we're going to do it. When we first started talking about it seriously, we thought we could swing it for next summer. Now, we're not so sure that we'll have the funds for it. I think Mark is especially concerned about my ring since he hasn't bought it yet. It's really hard because I want to be really excited about everything, but we haven't actually announced anything yet. He wants to go the traditional route and ask my dad for permission (I think it's sweet!), but they live quite a distance away-and he doesn't want to do it over the phone, I can't blame him-so things are just pretty complicated at the moment. So, that was the long story of saying that the planning isn't going very well, at least the official booking, etc. Although, when all the money stuff gets sorted out, I think everything will fall into place quickly because I've been doing so much research! LOL!!!

I'm glad to hear that all your planning is going well! Are you doing a big, all-out AHR?

I got Micaela's OOO message too! I did contact Zulma (if you look at Micaela's signature the email is changed to zdominguez) and she reassured me that since we booked our wedding before the 'No Outside Vendor' policy that we would be fine. Yay!

I have read several times that there is an additional cost for the chair bows/ribbons and table overlays. Does anyone happen to know how much they charge?

Also, what is the cost difference per guest between the plated and buffet style dinners?

Thx!

Lindsay

We had the standard setup with the white chair covers and bows plus white tablecloth, which was all included in the price. If you want anything more than that, I'm not sure how much it costs. I saw some brides bringing their own coloured chair bows and table overlays for the WC to set up. I don't think that cost them anything but I'm not 100% sure. The per guest cost for the plated and buffet are the same, unless they changed it from when I got the info early this year.

Yup, here is my wedding review

http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t23916

From what I have heard, the weddings at both the Royal and Gran Porto sound pretty much the same. Ceremony and reception at the Gran Porto cost a bit less than the Royal though. Same WCs. Both had weddings almost every day when I was there. Gorgeous setups but I prefer the gazebo ceremonies to the beach ceremonies since the beach locations had less privacy.
