Diva Cup / Instead Cup - tampon / pad alternative

Ok, I wasn't going to ask but I was wondering. It says you can use it for up to 12 hours. How are you suppose to use a public restroom and reuse the same one? Or did you guys just not use the bathroom in public places?

I drink a lot of water and I go like every hour so that would be a pain in the ass for me.

Interesting product, but its not reusable... so it doesn't work as a green alternative. I was thinking about ordering the diva cup after it was brought up in the eco-friendly thread. I really don't know what size to order though, and it doesn't really seem like the kind of thing that if you order the wrong size you can return it after 'trying on' - lol.

Carly - I don't know if you'll get used to it after time, but I remember being aware of my tampon when I first used them.

Hmm, true...

This thing is freaking me out in a funny sort of way. Never heard of anything like it!! If it was truly "green" then I would consider it - otherwise I think I'll stick to tampons.

Also I think that it would be really weird having to empty it and such. And I think FI would be completely grossed out if he knew I had something like that lol

OMG! I just love the random topics on this forum. You ladies crack me up. I am so glad I just change BC pills and don't get my period anymore because I certainly would not be using one of these. It seems like it would be a big mess, or at least if I tried it it would be a mess even if it wasn't supposed to.

With Instead you leave it in for 12 hours and can go to the bathroom 1 and 2. When you take it out it doesn't leak you are sitting on the toilet and then pour the blood out and then wrap it up in a tissue. I know it sounds gross, but it's not that bad.

You can not feel it at all, if you feel it you need to readjust. Also there is no smell, since the smell comes from the blood sitting on the cotton. I know gross!

It's not completely green, but it is greener than using tampons or pads, since you don't have to change it out as often.

The Diva Cup is green since you clean it and don't throw it out. That being said, I'm with ya that DH would be horrified if I told him I was using something like that. And I think you are supposed to occassionally sterilize it... he'd throw a fit if I said I needed to boil it on the stove to clean it smile120.gif.
