As for the beach reception - there is a fee for the reception location (beach) and then you pay per person for the meal. I think the beach location is $800 for the evening plus $35 per person for the meal. Man, this stuff really adds up. Apparently this also only includes beer and wine for the drinks which is fine with me because people can walk to the bar inside and get other drinks. But if you want an open bar it's $10/person/hour. I think this is all kind of ridiculous since its supposed to be an all inclusive anyway but I'm trying to get over that.

Oh and thank you girls for the luminaries and pictures around the dance floor suggestions - I really never would have thought of that! I like it! New crafty project to try!
Wow! $800 for a beach reception plus $35/person for meal. I thought the beach reception was $500? A destination wedding is not as cheap as I thought?? I also think that paying for an open bar at an all inclusive is a bit silly but I don't feel right telling people to go inside for their drinks.

Is there a price difference btwn getting a dj or bringing an ipod? (is this is dumb question?)

ps. I definately hope we use this thread alot. I can use all the help that I can get.

Thanks for all your help!
For a welcome dinner we are all going to make reservations at the steak house. I just cant afford to host a seperate welcome dinner plus all the additional costs

The WC at RIU Palace Las Americas in Cancun said the speakers would be $200 per hour! YIKES! I am interested if other RIUs charge differently. I understand small differences, maybe using a more elaborate hotel would charge more for the wedding as a whole....but different figures for the same items? huh....... Let me know if those speakers really are of no charge....

My fiance has absolutely put his foot down about the additional costs at an AI resort - he can not get it through his head that the wedding could be extra when you are staying at an AI - he keep saying, "but the food and drinks are free!" I know it's frustrating but I also realize that the hotel will be moving food, set up, servers etc to a whole new area where they don't typically have them and that costs them extra money...its all just green paper in the end...

Thanks for bringing us together! I'm "hoping" to be a Riu bride...it's not official yet blush2.gif I am looking at the Riu resorts in PDC. I appreciate the information as the Riu website does not have much information. My sister's friend got married at the Rui in Puerto Vallarta and loved it! I'll be sure to let you all know if I have anymore information.
