Question for brides living in MD, DC, VA

Hi Ladies!

 

I was just wondering if anyone has attended one of the bridal showcases offered in the area and if so, did you find it useful? Which one did you attend and where? I just wanted to see if there were any other local vendors for wedding dresses (besides Davids Bridal) that have reasonably priced dresses (as in, not more than $1000). Thanks!

I love the Bridal Showcases!!! I have won something everytime I have gone. Last time it was a $100 certificate to a cake baker who did my sister's wedding. I go to Bridal Show and Wedding Expo in the Mid-Atlantic region, including shows in the Baltimore, Richmond and Washington areas. by Bridal Showcase.

That's awesome you won things! That bridal showcase is exactly what I was looking at yesterday. I'll go check one of them out then.

I have been to a couple of bridal showcases and some have fashion shows so that you can see different designs other than David's Bridal.

"A Formal Affair" does the fashion shows at the Bridal Showcase... I drove well over an hour to get to their store out in Warrenton, VA and it was NOT worth it! Biggest disappointment ever. I usually find a dress that I kind of like at any boutique, but I didn't find anything there.

I didn't go to the showcase since I didn't want to confuse myself with more options. But, in Columbia, MD there's Columbia Bridal and Ellicott City has Venus Bridal. I ended up with a David's Bridal Oleg Cassini mermaid style since I'm a visual person and needed to see a dress in my size on me. I was very surprised by what I found.

I've never been to one before. What else do they do there besides show dresses?

Did the dress at Filene's fit you okay or do you have to get it altered? I have to get mine altered and was wondering if you knew of any places that does a really good job. I have an appt at David's Bridal this Sunday to go see what they can do but I want to keep my options opened.

Its a bunch of vendors and they each have raffles for stuff. Not really useful for a DW bride, but they have nice giveaways and food samples... love the cake!
My sister has this seamstress in Manassas named Tam(sp?) that she speaks highly of. She is not with any bridal salon or anything. My dress is big in the chest area and snug in the hips. I plan on losing weight so I will need it taken in. I can ask my sister for that lady's info. I also found my camera, so I am about to upload my pics and post something.
