ETA: I wasn't trying to point to anyone in this thread on YOU SHOULD do this. Jessalyn and Karma both were researching things that I know something about it so I gave my two cents to THEM. I'm sorry if someone felt I was pushing it on them. I didn't mean it that way. Sorry if I did. That's all.
Oh, Calia, I'm sorry you feel upset. I defiantly appreciate your advice and thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. Every point of view in my opinion helps!

Since you bowed out of this thread, I guess it is pointless to say this, Calia, but my best friend's ex BF had to have a circumscision when he was 20 because of an infection. Had his parents had him circumsized when he was a baby, there would have been no need to do it then. Like I said every parent has the right to raise their child the way they see fit (within reason, of course) ...your comments about it being unnecessary is not appropriate to me...some religions find it is necessary. What would you say to them? I was just stating how I am choosing to raise my son...I do not think that by choosing things will make me a bad parent, just as I do not think your beliefs make you a bad parent. I think it's great that you want to offer advice I am sure everyone here appreciates it.

On a different note, I am finally having late night cravings! I want peanut butter and jelly every night! wtf.gif

Yum! I love PB & J. On that note, I found the most amazing ice cream last night. I normally am not that into sweets at all, but this stuff is like heaven. It's Ben and Jerry's Cinnamon Roll Ice Cream. It takes just like a cinnamon roll with vanilla ice cream on top! I'll probably detest it after delivery if not in a few weeks but for now it's the best!

offtopic2.gif Mo, totally off the mommies topic, but I grew up going to OC in the summer (my dad moved there after my parents divorced). My ultimate night on the boards include: Mack & Mancos, Kohr Bros. (I worked there one summer) & Johnsons Popcorn...yummm....eat some for me!

I am not ashamed to say that after I read your post earlier, I got a craving for this ice cream and ran to the storer to buy it. I am too full from dinner to try it yet, but I am anxious to do so!

okay, Karma, I tried the ice cream. It's really good! But, I don't like the cinnamon roll dough. The ice cream itself is good though! Taste just like cinnamon roll with vanilla ice cream. Jay says it is too sweet for him, but he doesn't even like sweets. He's weird. :)

Martha,
Just wanted to respond since it was addressed to me. I totally respect your decision as a mother. Every parent has different ways of raising their children. I respect all mothers. Trust me I've watched many children and not always agreed with the mothers. Every mother is different and has different ideas about raising their children. Just b/c someone doesn't do something you agree with doesn't make anyone wrong or bad. But since this thread has other mothers to be and like Mo said she didn't even know about certain issues, I felt like I need to put the other side out there for people who might be reading but not posting. This is in no way to make an argument or a debate. Last thing I want to do on this thread. But this thread has shared information for everyone and I want to share something that I'm passionate about. Just putting this out there for the silent readers or people who wanting more information on the subject.

As to the "getting circed older" is totally different then RIC. As an infant the foreskin is attached to the glands. So in RIC they rip the foreskin away from the glands, crush it, and then cut. As an adult you are given adequate pain meds and the foreskin is easily retractable, so as not to be ripped away from the glands it was made to protect! And as a infant they are usually given mild pain medication and a sugar paci. I've spoken to more than a few nurses who assist so that is not just made up in my head. I wish it was. And then they are in a diaper where they pee and poo on an open wound. As to getting an infection. Iinfections are easily treatable and alot of doctors don't know what to do with a intact male, so combat it with circumcision. I've heard many a story of a intact male going in and it's a simple yeast infection and the doctor has no idea and tells them to circumcisie. And to circumcise all babies in the off chance they might get an infection is kinda crazy to me. It's like saying I might get a yeast infection lets do a female circumcision. Which female circumcision is against the law! Crazy! As to religious side of things. There are quite a few jewish, muslim, and catholic doctors AGAINST circing. There websites are:
Index
Muslims Against Circumcision
Catholics Against Circumcision - Respecting Bodily Integrity
Some other sites:
NOHARMM Access Page
Circumcision Information and Resource Pages
(need more just ask)
and googling you can find other religious organizations against RIC. Also a great video is Penn and Teller's Bullsh!t. Or google circing and watching one was what did my husband in. He's circed and a doctor and he said he will never do that to his son. A great forum I have on men who have been circed and regret it and are restoring if anyone wants that. Talk to men who were circed as children and wish they hadn't. Or wish THEY had the choice for their own body.

Only 20% of the world is circed. That means 80% aren't. Weird thought if there was such a problem with intact men it'd be more common spread. The US is one of the leading countrys that does this. Alot of insurances don't even pay for it b/c it is considered an elective COSMETIC procedure. And the risk of something going wrong with circumcision either it being too much cut and having a tight circ really sucks later in life.

One quote I remember that sticks with me is "If God wanted you to have a foreskin he would of made you with one." And my favorite "Babies are born PERFECT!" Thanks for listening. Again just b/c one person is against circ doesn't mean you have to be. Everyone has different views on everything. Doesn't make you wrong at all. You have every right as a parent to do what you think is right. But this thread has shown great information to give to new moms and I just wanted both sides shown. Thats the great thing about this forum. Everyone can share and we respect each others viewpoints. Again congratulations and I hope to join new moms to be soon! You ALL will be amazing mothers!

Off note: You now have me craving that ice cream. But town for me is 35 minutes away!!! Just to go to the grocery store. Totally sucks!

OUch, my MIL's brother had to be circumcised when he was 8 and that always freaked me out! I know my sister says a lot of older men have to get it done as well (shes a nurse) I cant even imagine how hard that would be at that age. We had Rayden circumcised when he was a day old and Im glad! He slept like a baby (literally) through the whole thing and we were able to take the bandage off the next day! No muss no fuss, he was perfectly happy afterwards!

So I'm starting to get uncomfortable at night. It seems like it takes an act of congress to turn from my right to my left side. I have to take my pillow with me when I turn, I swear it takes 5 minutes to get resituated. Sucks!

Also, my belly botton is about to pop out. I thought it was going to go flat and stay that way. But noooo. I can see it sticking out of my shirts a little. Grreat! So it shouldn't be too long before I have a real outtie.

I had an OB appt yesterday and my blood sugar was high. So, not more sugar dessert for me! My gluclose levels came back good, so the nurse said it was probably because I ate some kind of dessert every day last week. Shame on me, I know! So, I am going to be better! I only gained 2 pounds, I am up to 16 now. I thought for sure I gained at least 5 in Mexico, guess all the walking helped!

Lisa, I was wondering if my belly button was gonna pop. I am hoping not, but it wont be a biggy if it does. It taked me forever to move also. And Noah hates when I lay on my left side. He starts kicking and moving around. Little turkey! We bougtht nurseryfurniture yesterday and it is getting so hard to even get out of Jay's truck now. And walking? Forgetaboutit! Takes forever for me to go anywhere!

This is the furniture we bought, but w/o the hutch. It is solid wood and super heavy. We scratched it to make sure none of the finishing would come off, just in case Noah decides to teeth on it w/o me knowing.

Omni Collection - Baby's Dream Furniture

This is our bedding, should be here next week!

Reef Bedding by Freckles - Baby Crib Bedding

And, we also bought a Sealy mattress. It exceeds the Consumer Reports safety list and some other safety list. I can't remember the name of it, so I can't post a picture. It's still in Jay's truck, so I will post it later.

Oh and we registered yesterday too! That was kinda stressful!

Mo, I hope you are doing well!
