To those who got married legally before Cabo- BIG QUESTION

Recommended Posts

Every state's laws are different. We did it in Virginia because they didn't require a witness, and Maryland did, I think. And DC required a syphilis test -- EW. Just research your state's laws.

Samanthag, you can do your legal day whenever you want, the courts have no interest in your non-legal DW wedding because it doesn't count to them anyway. I think most people here do theirs relatively close to their DW, mine was about 2 weeks before the DW. It's all up to you and your hubby-to-be :)
Thanks for answering my question! hug2.gif
My FI is like, let's do it on Monday. Ha! I think we will wait until at least Jan. Unless we do get it done early & then by the time the wedding rolls around we will have completely forgotten about it??
No biggie! I'll be ready! smile123.gif

we needed two witnesses in NC. Mike had to go witness for the couple that went before us because they only had 1.

it was great b/c 2 of my friends who couldn't make it to the wedding got to go to legal day. we had a great time.

you live in vegas? it shouldn't be hard to get legally married then. you could do a drive through wedding.

We plan on doing the legal ceremony at home and then having a symbolic cermony in Mexico. Two of our best friends who can't make it to Mexico are going to be our witnesses and promise to keep it a secret!

I am just wondering if our Mexico guests will know if it is only a symbolic ceremony? Is the symbolic as good as the real deal?

We are getting married at the Sante Fe.

This info is so helpful! We would like to do the legal day in NJ before and do the symbolic ceremony in Mexico, but... does it make a difference for your passport or traveling, airline tickets, customs, etc.... (If this is a stupid question please forgive me. But I didn't know if doing it beforehand would have any effect on this, or my credit card/passport/yada yada whatnot)
