And Micaela didn't seem to care when I mentioned we were looking at outside photographers (we decided to go with the resort photography cause everyone else is already booked!!). We're leaving on the 29th of November out of Vancouver for two weeks. I'm getting so excited!!! The only problems I've been having is trying to get our Birth Certificates translated and legalized!!!! And, I guess this is kinda crazy, but I haven't even looked for a dress or BM dresses yet!! Yikes! I'd better get on it!!!
Wow girl, you better get on that dress shopping ASAP! I ordered my dress 4 months before the wedding and I wish I had the time to do it sooner. My dress came JUST in time, but then there were problems with the alterations, so I literally had my dress two days before we left for the trip - my stress level was so high because of it! Most bridal places recommend ordering the dress 6-8 months in advance, and when I told them when my wedding was, they looked at me like I had a third eye. So I'm glad my sis pushed me into wedding dress shopping when she did!

I just wanted to remind everyone to be careful about your court date for your legal ceremony. We were originally thinking about getting that part done sooner instead of the day before we leave for Mexico but we realized the hassle that could come with doing that. I didn't want to have to worry about getting a new license ans passport before we left. I know of someone who had gotten married and had gotten a hard time at the airport about her name change. They left for their honeymoon the day after they got married. They had a copy of their marriage license but it was not the one with the raised seal. To get that, you have to pay a fee and order it and it can take up to a week for you to get it. Customs eventually let them through, but not without a big pain in the ass and many people in line behind them giving them the evil eye!

Fortunatly for me, in Quebec, I cannot legally take my spouses last name anyway...only socially...so this will not affect us, but DEFINITELY some great heads up for those it will affect.

Thank you for posting this!

Hey girls...

I was just wondering out of us ladies marrying here at the Royal, who all is having a legal ceremony and who is having a symbolic?

We're going to do the symbolic wedding, and I was wondering if any of you with dates a little ways down the road, have discussed your options and such with your wedding coordinator? I'm wondering if, even though its symbolic, I know we have to pay for a minister and wanted to know if we could provide our own vows, implement sand ceremonies, stuff like that?

I'm on a bit of a lull with communications again, and thought I'd pose the question here while I wait for a response from the hotel!

You can do whatever you want for your ceremony. We have pretty much planned ours on our own. We have written our own vows and we are doing a sand ceremony. Kevin's brother is doing a reading while we are pouring the sand. It is nice that they allow for you to customize the ceremony!

If we're having a minister (that we're paying for through the hotel) perform the ceremony, will they still allow that kind of flexibility? I sure hope so...

Your ceremony sounds like it is exactly what we'd love to do...just with a minister!

Thanks for responding.

Thanks for posting this! I ran across ErinB's vows recently and it was exactly what I was looking for! We're going the symbolic route to avoid all of the red tape involved...

I too am in a bit of a lull with communication with the Royal- it's been averaging 2-3 weeks in between responses from Micaela... I'm totally trying not to go Bridezilla, but I feel it coming on soon!!!

Do you guys have any info on the beach reception menus?

Here are three things I received from the Royal regarding menus. One is for a buffet dinner reception, the other is a sit down/plated dinner reception, and the other is an horderve list. Hope this helps! I don't think you have to decide on your food selection until immediately before the wedding.

When I was planning, I had mixed responses. Paty told me that the minister would not change what he would read, but Micaela told me that I could have them read anything I wanted. In the end, we had a friend officiate, so it turned out fine, but I was really frustrated at getting two different answers and not knowing who was right.

Hmmm...thanks Aeroo. I'm still waiting to hear from Micaela...but I'll just sit tight and hope she is able to answer.

I haven't seen you on in a while...its good to know you're still around!
