Flowers in floating water

Recommended Posts

Tammy I love the pics for your inspiration! The one with the floating candles is exactly what I was thinking of doing. I think I will def end up doing this. I will just have to choose a flower that is not too expensive so that I can keep costs down.

Please dont laugh!.. Here is our first trial..

These are the things I will be changing/keeping:

-The orchids I purchased are mini and I need the larger ones..

-I am thinking that each vase needs a different flower, suggestions are greatly appreciated.

-I want larger versions of the vases and possibly a floating candle on top of each vase. I plan on having small votives surrounding the vases.

-I really like the idea of the brown table runner. I was thinking of having lime green but I think the brown is a good background

FYI: my colors are brown, lime green and white

this is the set-up at the Mayan: the white chairs and round tables, white lanterns are standard set up. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t34

I think these look really cool and they will look even better at night by candle light - the only tip I could send your way would be try using "less" # of stones and flowers so that you can clearly see each bloom. I think the larger size will look great too! BTW the brown table runner is a great backdrop and way to include all your colors on the table. I don't know where you got your vases but thought i would let you know they have similar ones at IKEA and i have found their prices to be the best on most things. GREAT JOB! smile159.gif

Thanks Ladies!

Sarah (BEACHBRIDEMA) I like the idea of pink but I want to try and stick to my color scheme. I thought of adding a different type of flower, maybe casa blanca lillies?? Of some other type?

Sarah(Sassygirl): I did buy the vases and river rocks at IKEA. And actually, yesterday morning we went to the flower district in Downtown L.A. and saw the larger orchids and curly willow, but I didn't have cash and didn't plan on purchasing anything. I just wanted to see what flowers were out there. But once we left I had an itch to make a trial run! We went crazy trying to find the orchids and curlywillow! I went to Micheals to purchase fake ones, and they were horrible and expensive. I then went to 2 flower shops and purchased the curly willow and mini orchids (they were already wiltering!)

I didn't plan on using river rocks, my FI said we should. But maybe I could only add it to one? We'll see, we're going to make another run to DTLA and and get the right materials!

No keep them coming! I was thinking sand but I am afraid that the water will look dirty.

Amy, I think sand and rocks are good, but a little less. Bigger white orchids. They are perfect and I love them. Can't believe you are so ahead, you can really search for the best deals now.

Thanks Christine.. I agree, less is better. Guys don't seem to understand that, Hans thinks I should add more- more rocks, flowers. I think I'm not to fond of my first trial because nothing seems to pop! I think I'm going to try something different next time.. Each vase will have a different look... Hmmm..
