I don't know yet what I am doing for music. I am thinking about the mariachi band for the cocktail hour - but I think it's a 2 hour min. so maybe also the ceremony and dinner? I don't know how well the mariachi band would go for the ceremony and dinner - but I would think it would work. Then maybe a DJ for after dinner. I just don't want to have to worry about music - that's not my thing! FI may try to put a play list together, but not sure.

Hey ladies!

Oops hit send too soon.

Well we got home today and I'm sleepy but thought I'd reply to a few of your questions right away.

Our boat ride over in the morning was very nice and calm, not too rough. Apparantly the ride over for all of our guests was a little bit rougher. We had one guest with us that gets motion sickness very easily and he had his drugs with him and he was fine the whole way. The trip home was a different story. The boat ride was extremely rough and one person (a BM) got sick. I don't think she took gravol in time for it to take effect, but she was sick for the ride home. It was rough, but the crew on the boat did the best they could to make everyone comfortable. They do offer dremamine on the boat free of charge, and are very helpful if you do get sick. The boat ride home was the only bad thing about the entire day (and it wasn't even that bad for most of us!) other than that it was perfect!!!

We had the fire dancers and it was AMAZING...a really cool show, everyone was freaking out thinking my dress was going to go up in flames, but it was fine and they were great, very entertaining. We had someone do a video of the fire dancers and hopefully I can figure out how we might be able to post it somewhere on the net and you can all see it.

Our photographer was great. We had Roberto Aceves, and he did an awesome job. We are really happy with the pictures. We got the smallest package which was supposed to be only 25 prints and 100 negatives on CD, but he ended up giving us 75 prints and 356 negatives!!! So, needless to say, I have a million photos to go through with all of our guests pics as well. I will try to get them up on a website this week so you can all have a look!

If any one has any questions, feel free to ask...I will try to answer them as best as I can....

The day went by so fast, I can't believe it. It felt like we just arrived and then it was time to go home already! We did not have a DJ or mariachi band or any type of music, we brought our IPOD and that worked quite well for what we needed it for. They have a staff memeber (your cruise director) that will play the music for you for the ceremony and reception. He ended up playing mostly off his collection of CD's for the night, which was fine with us, the music wasn't that important to us, we didn't have too many dancers in our group, everyone was mostly socializing.

I am kind of glad that we didn't have a mariachi band. They had one come to the fiesta night at the hotel we were staying at and boy are they loud!!!! Everyone left right away when they started playing. The mariachi would be ok for the ceremony and maybe the cocktail hour, but I don't think I'd want it during dinner, you wouldn't really be able to socialize much. I don't think it would have been worth the money, for us anyway. Of course, that is just my opinion! During dinner the cruise director/dj played nice dinner music, and it was great. WE ended up tipping him at the end of the night, since we didn't pay for a dj, and he ended up being our dj!

Oh yeah, the bridal suite is so amazing and beautiful!!!! We got to be the first ones to use the jacuzzi out back!!! They finished it on Monday and we used it Wednesday!!!! My three BM's and I all sat in it for an hour or so after lunch and just relaxed. It was great!

Hmm that's all I can think of for now, I will work on more of a review, or, better yet, if you have any questions, just ask and I'll answer them as best as I can!

Jacuzzi - - - YES!!!!! Welcome back it's sounds like everything was absolutely wonderful!!

We also are doing the fire dancers and our own music so I'm so glad you were pleased with that. I also want to use Roberto for the photos. With a group of people someone always gets seasick, sometimes you can avoid it unfortunately.

I am so excited to use the bridal suite with my BM's all day and a jacuzzi is awesome!!! I know you ladies really enjoyed that!!!! Did you decide all your table decorations beforehand or did Nicole give you options when you got there? Can't wait to see some pics when you get settled in.

Beach setting or jungle setting?? I didn't know there was a choice. My fiance proposed to me here last December. Do you happen to have pictures of those two settings? I'd love to see them. It also looks as though the indoor option (in case of rain) seats two per table. I hope it doesn't rain because it would be much nicer to have one long table set up on the beach or have a sort of 'head table' for the bride and groom. However the alternative isn't so bad either. Thanks

I am new to this site but loving it!!! I still haven't figured out what a MQ is (in between the quote and QR buttons!). Anyways, may I ask the FEB 14 bride (or anyone) about the heat/humidity at Las Caletas. Nicole mentioned they only have fans there to cool off since they really don't have air conditioning to speak of. I guess it's very limited (probably for the salon).

Do you have pics of the salon? What did you do with your hair? I kind of want to wear mind down or partially down since it's long but I worry about the heat. Thanks!!

The heat at Las Caletas isn't too bad, or at least we didn't find it to be too bad by the time the ceremony was to start. The humidity depends on what time of year you are getting married. If you are having your wedding in the rainy season (May-November) the humidity will be very very high. I was in PV in September one year and we could hardly stand the humidity.

There isn't a salon at Caletas, I believe if you hire the hair stylist they travel to Caletas and will do your hair in the bridal suite. I have short hair and my aunt is a retired hair dresser, so we brought her with us to Caletas earlier in the day and she curled my hair for me. My bridesmaids all wore their hair down and they didn't say it was too hot or anything...it was quite windy the day of our wedding though, so that may have helped.

I think if you wore your hair half up half down, it would be ok heat-wise, you shouldn't get too hot!

No, there isn't any air conditioning at Caletas, there is barely electricity, I think they use generators or something, and Nicole said they only just got electricity into the bridal suite about 8 months ago. At night the entire place is lit by torches and candles, there is no electrical lighting at all!

Anyway, that's all for now, talk to you ladies soon!

Hi Marla, Umm kay I just started searching on the site and I could only find it on the very opening page but when I started planning our Las Caletas wedding (keep in mind this was over a year ago and was when Jordan was their, not Nicole) there was an option to have your wedding at a Mayan Pyramid...I know when you do the slideshows on their website you see it in some of the photos! I am not too sure if it is still available but if it is something you are interested in it is worth asking Nicole about!Oh and just so you know...the photo that you are looking at which you said if it rains you would have to sit 2 people at a table....that is actually the reception area (even without rain) but you have your choice to arrange the tables how you would like them set up (they just show you the two seater photos as how it is set up normally if you were going their on the day tour!) Well hope this helps and if you would like any other info please feel free to ask. We have photos and some video links of the area set up for our wedding on our site if you wanted to see more photos as well (jeffandali.org) Happy Planning and feel free to ask any more questions!

About the beach vs. jungle setting, you cannot have your wedding at the jungle pyramid if it is at night. They use it for the Rythyms of the Night stage show which your guests can attend free if they want to wander off from your reception. If you are having a daytime wedding it is available to you.
