Paying for Reception at Dreams

I will try to negotiate....I simply refuse to pay for food and drink at an all inclusive. Of course paying for extra set up and waiters is understandable.

Another beef, is that the basic wedding package comes complimentary if you have more than 10 guests or staying in honeymoon suite for 7 days. But the packages that include more, don't seem to take into consideration the first. For example the first package is 795, the second 1500. Shouldn't the second one be 1500 minus the complimentary portion? Meaning you only pay for the extras?

Is it me or this doesn't make sense?
I totally agree ! If any of you girls have any luck with negotiation please keep us informed, I've possibly been a little too laid back about this, I just thought if theres nothing I can do about it I'd better stop moaning lol.... but I still fully agree !

I have a question....On the Dreams Website they state that if you purchase the Ultimate Wedding Package you have the choice of having your wedding in the Gazebo or Beach Arbor. I called and spoke to someone by the name of Lissette because originally I had requested the gazebo and changed my mind, so I asked if I can change and she said there's a $300 charge to have it on the beach, and I mention that the website stated that the Ultimate Package includes the beach and she said no......is that true?

OK, so in regards to Dreams Cancun, they do or dont charge an extra 300 bucks? I would think that if they did it at one Dreams, they would do it at all of them. If anyone knows, let us know please.

Also, if anyone has had any experience with choosing a package at Dreams Cancun and not wanting some of the options, do they allow you to replace certain options with others. For instance, if you dont want your hair style done there, will they allow you to skip that and add a few extra photo's from the photographer. Something like thathuh.gif

Yeah, we're getting LEGALLY married here, and symbolically there. I don't want to be a pessimist, but G-d forbid something happens and we want to part ways, you will have to do it DR. Just planning ahead...lol!

Yeah, so noe legal fees or blood test..etc needed.

Maybe if we all start pushing and nagging, maybe then they will give in.

Be strong ladies!!!!

Thanks for posting this thread. I am gettting married at the Grand Palladium Riviera Maya, and I have been trying to negotiate our fees there also. The package includes 8 people for ceremony for $1300 (seems a bit high, but whatever) and then we have to pay $20 pp over the 8 people. I asked to have that waived since everyone will be resort guests, but she said no and if we didn't want to pay the $20 pp we would only have 8 chairs, cake and champagne for 8.. I am not sure that I agree that it should cost that much. Then we want a private reception, so another $45 pp for that. It is frustrating feeling like I am paying regular catering prices when we are already paying for AI rate. But, I figure big picture, we are still spending way less than having in the US... but it feels like a rip off and makes me annoyed. Any advise would be appreciated, but I feel like lots of people probably try to get this stuff waived with no luck..

i can't speak for cancun, but in pv, they did not charge anything extra for beach vs. gazebo. when you purchase a package, you have the choice of where you want it, and you can change your mind 2930780211 times beforehand.

true - you don't really get credit. BUT, if you TELL them - not ASK, TELL - that you want something in exchange, they'll sometimes make arrangements. for example, we told them we did not want their photographer to take pics, but wanted the $ for that to go to our photographer. they said ok - but didn't tell us that our photog needed a mexico work id, which he didn't have b/c he was from canada! you have nothing to lose by trying!

I agree with Lauren. You need to be stern. If you think they are being unreasonable, be prepared to walk away. That is the only way to get what you want.
