Do you like what you do for a living?

I cant resist - I think I've got the best job in the world!! I work whatever hours I want, I'm able to make a living on a creative skill that I enjoy doing - I get to stand on the "sidelines of history" so to speak in shooting news..... and I get to go to great weddings and parties all the time. - :)

Of course, my wife brings in the benefits, health insurance, etc. - not to mention the steady / regular check! -- But I really couldnt ask for a better job. - the only thing I might enjoy more than what I do now is playing poker for a living! :)

You are so young- go for it! So since I have no experience or education in fashion whatsoever

This doesn't matter. I worked in fashion (as an assistant) briefly cause I hated it. It was too devil wears prada for me. Do you have any friends that could get you in a low level position?

MAC counter that was just opened in Macy's (the 1st one ever here...YAY) So we will see if they call me back and maybe that will be the foot in the door of the fashion industry that I need...

Mac is great. Especially is you want to be a stylist. You can learn a lot. My friend is a regional trainer for them.

Thank you for the kind words of encouragement. You will have to share with me your experiences as an assistant. I heard it is hard and I know for a fact fashion will be difficult because I hate the fakeness involed in it. I also am a firm believer that you don't have to wear expensive name brands to be fashionable...and that will pose a problem too. I am all about personal style, not if my shoes are Jimmy Choo...ya knowhuh.gif

What do you think I should do next?

This is a great thread as I have been pondering this question myself. I really think I want to go into catering or some type of party planning. My job is nice - TONS of perks - BUT - I am bored.

I love planning parties - LOVE it! I just don't know where to start.

I have grown to hate my current job. I started looking for a new job a few months ago and accepted an offer a week ago.

My current job, a licensed child behavioral analyst, is rewarding yet at the same time very taxing. For the past year now, I leave work with headaches daily. I currently, for one more week, work at a large hospital as a behavioral analyst. My patients range in age from 2 years old through 16.

My new job, which I start July 21, is completely different. I will still be able to use my master's degree in psych yet it will not be clinical. I will be working for an attorney who practices family law as a mental health specialist. This is a completely new position at the firm. I look forward to "making" this position. Although I don't exactly know what I'll be doing compeltely, I look forward to joining the firm. I feel this will be a job I will love as I will still be able to provide mental health services.

I second what Butlergirl says. Start planning friends parties. After your own wedding of course... !

Good for you. Way to find a job that you are "creating" so to speak. I think if it;s a new position at the firm then you have a lot of freedom to make it what you want it to be. good luck!

I 100% LOVE my job. I have to say that it took me a while to get here, but now that I have found my path = I cant see myself doing anything else with my life!

I think that it helps that my dad always loved his job and always said while we were growing up that if you can have a job that you look forward to going to everyday and feel like it is fun and not a chore- then you are going to be happier than most people.

It is rare, and I was able to find that, so i will never let that go!
