Can your lay your cards out like Courtney and just make everyone pick them up as they come in? That way you don't have to make the seating chart, and they still have their cards with the distinguishing marks in front of them when they sit down.

no - each person has to have an assigned table, which is the other reason for the place cards. we have some guests who have issues with each other, and in one case also can't sit a homophobic cousin anywhere near a gay couple... which is why the place cards are more than just for distinguishing who gets what meal. i'm basically going to have jose's mom do the seating chart minus my family, so the seating chart wont take me very long to do just my family but it has to be done to avoid some problems between guests.
