What was your biggest adjustment after getting married?

We moved in together 4 months before we got married. I would say our big adjustment had to do more with our fur baby blended family (his dog and my two cats). My male cat Indy tries to attack Jay's dog Chloe so we have to keep them separated at all times. Good times. So that has been a PIA at times. But in terms of our relationship, we have just rolled with the changes (i.e. sharing space, family decision making, chores, money). After we got married, we opened a joint account for household expenses and savings. We both kept our individual accounts as well for our personal money. I guess the biggest change is a very good thing. We just feel more like family and are just so protective of each other and what we have together. But yeah, there hasn't been any struggles or conflicts to overcome.

I don't think there will be any change, FI will still be in the army and only home 2 x a month if that lol Our big adjustment will come when he gets out in 4 years!! that will be hellish lol i've told him he has to work away or else I'll be preparing my divorce papers lmao

My FI and I have been living together for the last 2 years so I dont think things will change much.oddly enough friends who have gotten married in the same situation say things just feel different. Our biggest adjustment when moving in was definitely our sleeping arrangements. since I was an only child I was use to having a queen bed to myself so I would do the diagonal spread. this drives my FI crazy because he ends up wedged on the edge of the bed. As for the combining money we decided that after we get married we will have our separate accounts but we will have a joint one that will got to stuff for the house and things like that.

OMG this made me laugh out loud!!!

No big changes for us. We have lived together for 5 years and dated for 8. It is just nice saying husband and hearing him say wife. We have a 2 year old and he aways tell hers her I am his wife just get her going. Somereason that word annoys her! She smiles and pushes him away from us!

I know many of you live or lived with your FI before you got married, but since being married what has been the biggest adjustment or something that you didn't expect?
Wow... that is a huge adjustment, I have alot of respect for you marrying before you lived together, did you never wonder you may not get on ? I lived my my FI and his parents for 7 yrs !! we have now been in our own house for the past yr and love it, our biggest adjustment was the general looking after ourselves !! all the cooking, washing and ironing ect... but we soon got used to it...

Well we spent a lot of time together and I was always over at his house so it was just the actual sharing of the bed that bothers me. wink.gif All is great and I couldn't be happier!! Life is good...real good.

Aww I love this thread...comforting to know i'm not the only one who thinks of things like this....I know sharing money will be an adjustment and I've already told my FI that I understand we'll be in an apartment because that's what we can afford but we will need seperate bathrooms asap...I hate when he visit's my house and uses my bathrooms! yuck! I don't think bed sharing will be that bad...I miss having a guy to cuddle with and make me feel sade so bad and since we live countries away I don't get that :( {I have him tell me he's holding me on the phone at night cause it comforts me a bit but we can't let his buddies know he does that}
