Paying a waitstaff??

Recommended Posts

We are having our reception on the beach and Chandlyn told us that there are servers for drinks but it's buffet for food. If we want to have a few servers serve dinner it would be an additional $500.00. So my question is if you had the bbq buffet on the beach do you think servers are necessary or helpful? Does anyone else have any thoughts. I just feel it's a wedding and the guests should be served even though it is on the beach. This is probably one of those silly things I worry about but oh well. Thanks!

We had buffet style- we had 2 servers (I think it was 2) that filled water, got drinks, etc. Everyone else just dished up their own plates.

I kinda don't get what you would use servers for. If it's buffet, would they take everyone's order then go over and dish up their plate? That seems silly- maybe I'm misunderstanding.

We have a really loud group so we rented the Plantation but with only 23 people it looks like it would be too big plus we want to do something more beachy. How private was the beach for your party?

It is buffet but I was wondering if it were possible to not do it buffet style and have servers. Sorry I didn't explain it correctly, but it really isn't a huge deal I was just curious if people cared about serving themselves.

super private. we had dinner at the plantation and there were 25 of us. it was great. there was one other wedding party there but you could not see or hear them. i know that you want to do something beachy but the restaurant is open-air so it is still great. oh, and if people did try to infiltrate my beach party my BMs put a stop to it. they were like security!

Thanks, that's really helpful to know. I'm glad you had security with you!! I keep changing my mind with the reception and I know that once we're down there it really doesn't matter but of course I want it to be romantic and intimate. Did you think the beach was cold?

no way. it was humid. we had the bonfire for an extra 150 and it was so great! they set up a long table and chairs but i did not sit at it at all. i was a dancing fool!

above the seagrape is the entertainment area so sometimes people will look down at you, but it is really mild.

oh, and it was so warm that we did not mind running into the ocean after the reception, my whole wedding party actually did.

I feel so much better now, thank you! It sounds like you had the best time! I love the idea of a bonfire. We both grew up on beaches and he proposed on the beach and we live on one now so I really wanted a beach wedding through and through. Yay I'm even more excited! Did you post your pictures yet?
