My Aunt went to the hospital last night.....

OMG- one of my aunt's just called me bawling. My grandma is in tears and she is a rock. My aunt is currently in the ambulance as we speak on the way to the hospital and her convulsions are much more violent this time. My aunt said she was convulsing so hard she could hear the gurney in the background lurching around.

I hate feeling so helpless like this.

So sorry to hear about your Aunt! I hope they figure it out and get her taken care of soon!

A similar thing happened to my neighbor the other day. April has had quite a few miscarriages, and she is pregnant now- due around Sept or so- this is the longest she's been pg. Anyway, her husband woke up to her having a seizure Friday morning. He called 911, they went to the hospital, and she was released at noon. Her husband was on the phone making an appt for an EEG, when she had her 2nd seizure (about 1:00- only AN HOUR after they got home!). Another 911 call, and they kept her until the next day. They said she and the baby are fine, but now she's on this medication that's making her seem really out of it. She went to her OB on Tuesday, but I haven't heard what they said (her DH and mine talk more than she and I do). Anyway, her DH is afraid that something will happen when he is at work and they have no family around here. She is supposed to text him every hour, but then she goes to sleep (he works 2nd shift). We have their garage door opener in case of an emergency. IL law says she can't drive for 6 months because of having the seizures. Sorry for the novel~ just sounded similar!

I had withdrawal symptoms like this several years ago after getting off Paxil (horrid drug!). I felt like I was having electric shocks all over my body, and I had waking dreams (really creepy). Martin just got off of a different SSRI (Lexapro) about 2 months ago and is still having what he calls "brain spasms". All these drugs are SCARY! Has your Aunt been on anything like this?

Oh Rachel!!!! I can't believe this is happening - how could they have discharged her while she was still having these symptoms?!?!?! wtf.gif That's making me mad so I can only imagine how you guys are feeling. I'm so sorry. I hope everything is OK and that it is a reaction to a med. Did they tell the hospital doctors that the primary doc thought it might be med related??

Oh no, Rachel, I am so sorry. That is just unbelievable that they sent her home. I work in the neurology dept. at a major hospital and I cannot imagine that ever happening. I would think they could be sued for negligence if (God forbid) anything happened. So weird!

Please keep us updated. Your aunt and family and you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
