Tensing Pen Wedding - Ceremony Decorations

Recommended Posts

I guess I will be letting the cat out of the bag by sharing my inspiration for my decorations BEFORE the big day, but I am so excited I can't wait. My ideas may help other brides having weddings at Tensing Pen have a great day too so I hope this helps.

Tensing Pen ceremonies are often on the patio outside of the Sea Song Hut. The patio is stone, which really limits how you can decorate because you can either choose arrangements to create an altar or a arch. I wanted something like what you see below.Click the image to open in full size.

photos are from white lilac design and modern day weddings.

So I chose to have mine in the restaurant. Click the image to open in full size. There are two trees on either side of the verandah that can be used to secure a line that can be used to suspend pomanders. They will be my "altar" and the guests have a view of the ocean behind us. I am the first bride to request my wedding at the Restaurant. I am So excited about it!

The hotel also has a garden with a large tree that can be used to create the same effect for a ceremony. The size of my wedding (60 guests) is too large to use that area. From the small garden there is also no view of the sea, I think. I can't wait to post photos of the actual wedding so you can see how it looks "on location"

I think that you can make these balls from carnations and would have the same beautiful result as the photos. Mums would also work very easily but I wanted to use "fake" flowers instead. I found these spheres at CB2 and spray painted them, and then added laytex orchids. This is the result. The spheres come in 3 sizes and were about 8.95 to 4.95 each. The largest is about 12 inches the smallest is 6 inches.

Wow! You did a great job! It looks professionally done. You have inspired me! How do you plan to transport all of them? My concern with doing a lot of DIY things and then bringing them down to the resort is the price of flying them down with me. My resort will not allow you to mail any packages down prior to you wedding. And now that some airlines are makeing you pay big bucks for checking bags I am trying to weight the cost. doh.gif

Kelly,

There are shipping services, specifically for US immigrants who ship goods to their family and to friends in their home country. I am sure there is a large Mexican population in MD and there are services you can find to ship to Mexico. Thing take longer to arrive, about 8 weeks. I will use a similar service to ship to Jamaica from NYC and the cost of shipping a large box is about $45. In Jamaica my fiancee's family will have to go to the port and pick up the items - they won't deliver to the hotel, not quite like UPS. wink.gif

Thanks for the tip! But does it matter if I don't have any family in Mexico to pick it up? Or would that not work?
