SATC chat thread-if you haven't seen the movie-don't read this

I think what I didn't like about it is that I felt a lot of things were not true to the character:

I think Samantha would have banged that guy next door. But maybe they were trying to show her maturity and how she's changed, etc. But if just felt weird. What makes Samantha amazing as a character is that she always does what she wants. So I felt like the real Samantha would have slept with the guy.

For some reason I didn't think that a character like Steve would cheat. He was always this great amazing guy. And all of a sudden he is a cheater? I know that in real life even the great guys cheat but really I think we have some pretty amazing hubbies/FI's and do you think they would cheat? I dunno again I just felt it wasn't true to character.

It annoyed me that of course Charlotte has a "perfect" life. She gets everything she wants. She was always the one who wanted a husband and a baby and of couse she gets it all, plus gets to marry a wealthy man and live in a beautiful Park Avenue home, etc. And Miranda who is always the eternal pessimist, finally adapts to loving someone and gets screwed in the end. I don't know why but it just annoyed me.

Also knowing Big I don't think he ever would have proposed to Carrie. It was just so weird. Big always loved Carrie. But yet when they were first dating he always honed on the fact that he wouldn't get married again b/c it just doesn't work, blah, blah, blah. But then he and Carrie break up and he had no problems marrying Natasha and having a big lavish wedding. So now all of a sudden he has a problem with the big wedding? I don't think he ever would have proposed to Carrie b/c his other two marriages failed, and I could see never wanting to marry again.

I did however love a lot of stuff about the movie. I wish I had that closet, I wish I could just elope, I wish I could be at that Mexican resort (oh wait its just a set created in Cali, lol) and I wish I had an assistant!

I just saw the movie Tuesday night and i loved it! I thought so much of the story was "real" compared to some of story lines from the TV show.

Steve/Miranda- i think a lot of couples do thru "dry" stages and I think if one person isn't getting what they need at home, they will get it somewhere else. I was glad they got back together at the end b/c it seemed like Steve was genuinely sorry and it wasn't like he had been just been sleeping around forever

Charlotte- She had me cracking up! The pudding thing and crapping her pants was friggin hilarious! I actually have a friend who has 8 brothers and sisters and the oldest was adopted b/c her parents didn't think they could have kids, obviously the Dr's were wrong. I totally related to her being worried that her life was too perfect, and now I'm dying to say to someone "I curse the day you were born!"

I think everyone knows someone who got so caught up in planning their wedding that they forgot about the actual marriage! I was so sad that Carrie never heard Big's voicemail saying he just needed to hear from her that it was still just the 2 of them. It wasn't that he didn't want to say I do, he just didn't want anything to do with the production that their wedding had become. I knew they would get back together and it was only fitting that it was in the closet he designed.

The only thing i thought was odd was that Carrie hired an assistant. I could have done without that story line.

I could completely relate to the part about the wedding getting a bit out of hand beyond the original plan. Ours has as well. My FI did not want a big to do and neither did I really...I didn't want to go away just us...but did want immediate family/friends closest to us. Its become much more grand and he always comments on what a production it has become and what we could have done with that money on our own somewhere. It is amazing how something so simple can grow so out of control. He is constantly saying "I just want to be married, I don't need all of this"

I enjoyed the movie....I don't think I was wowed by it but I enjoyed seeing the characters again.

I also thought the assistant role by Jennifer Hudson was pretty useless and lame but it was nice to see some color amongst the SATC characters for a change beyond just the occasional man of color they'd have sex with.

Okay so I finally saw the movie yesterday so now I can open this thread! Haha.

I must confess, I never did watch the series religiously. Sarah Jessica Parker I have never liked so it made the series hard to watch for me.

I did however really enjoy the movie. I HATED that bird on her head.. like who the fuck wears something like thathuh.gif Seriously. Ugh.

I liked all the storylines.. Charlotte by far was my fav character in this movie from crapping her pants to her emotional outburst at Big when they were on the street after Carrie hit him with her bouquet. Fantastic.

I think the Miranda/Steve storyline was pretty realistic.. her getting caught up too much in work and sort of pushing the relationship to the backburner..

Samantha I like that they showed a bit more maturity with her character that she didn't cheat on Smith. And it was appropriate that she ended up single at the end.

I don't think Miranda was the cause of the wedding not happening. Carrie used her as an excuse but she said herself she let the wedding get too big.. when it should have been just her and Big so I liked the town hall wedding at the end.

I loved it, though it kinda dragged a little and i don't know about them getting married at the end.

1. When he didnt show up and than they met on the street. I almost strarted to ball. I felt so bad for her. But was glad she beat him with the bouquet. the peacock hat was god awful.

2. I actually liked how they brought Steve and Miranda back together on the bridge. Not happy about Steve being a cheater but i thought he seemed genuinely sorry and they did go to therapy. it kinda wrapped up nicely.

3. loved loved Samantha the whole movie.

4. assistant was great too

5. So glad Charlotte was prego and shit her pants (hysterical). Her and harry were so sweet together the whole movie. And i loved when she told off (in her charlotte way) big, "i curse the day you were born"

6. didn't like how carrie and big just got back together. i expected carrie to yell at him or something when she saw him in the closet than maybe make out a little. But it is a movie.

overall i really like it.

so a lot of people seem really shocked about Steve's character but if you all remember when they first started dating they had the numbers talk and he mentions that his numbers are really high because after all being a bartender he meets a lot of girls...he never tells her how many but that he meets so many women at the bar-so I actually wasn't shocked he cheated-I think it was the perfect story line for them-Miranda needed to see him and what he was for her, and he needed to realize that he was a family man now.
