Everyone is cancelling - feel like doing too

Mum said she is not going to get married now, she says it's too much to have the documents translated. Least she is still coming to our wedding (we were due to have 2 weddings on holiday)

Yesterday, brother said he couldn't make it, one bridemaid down now (his gf not him!)

Everyone keeps canceling, we spent ages trying to find a hotel suitable for everyone.

Last week I found out I'm going to be made unemployed. Feel very deflated, frown.gif

Trying to keep positive, but it seems to be falling apart. ... will we ever manage to get married

Sorry for the rant, really needed to vent frustration.

Don't get down. Everything will work out. We had the same things happen to us while we were planning to get married. We originally had planned on about 50 people coming to our wedding, then as the weeks passed guests dropped like flies for all different kinds of reasons. Aunt and Uncle couldn't make it b/c all of a sudden their son wanted to go to college out of state (understandable to a point, need to save money), godparents said no because "they don't go to Mexico" when we found out it was actually b/c we weren't getting married in the Catholic church (honestly screw them, I don't need them there if they are going to be like that), cousin got pregnant and had baby about 2 weeks before we left, completely understandable, friends thought about it and decided they should save for retirement instead.

Lots of things happened, I felt like changing my mind so many times and calling it all off, but in the end we had 15 people including us and it was perfect. You will truly know who cares about you because they are spending a lot of money to be there for you not the food or dancing, but for you!

Don't give up it gets better I promise even if it isn't until the most magical day of your life, its worth it.

problem is it's people like my brothers & nan.

Least if have it in this country they can come to see us getting married. Only prob is FI agreed because we were doing abroad - his family are all coming, just not mine

That's their problem not yours. The only people you need at your wedding are you and your FI.

I've had the same problem with my lot, mostly just can't be arsed to go!! FI's lot are shocking a few have said yes we'll go but they haven't booked.

Just as we were going to tell everyone we found his mum was getting married AGAIN!!! so we haven't told her so we don't get accused of stealing her thunder lol and when she finds out she'll go ape shit ! and do I care huh.gif Do I hell as like!

People will have a problem even if you get married here it will be on excuse or another. If they can't make the effort to go then thats their problem.

I know its hurtful but just remember the reasons why you are going abroad to do it, take a deep breath and say you know what thats fine you're missing out on a fab day!!

I would not worry so much right now, it looks as though your wedding is well over a year away so you never know what might happen. You will be surprised at how many people will change their plans throughout the wedding planning process, some you think aren't coming will all of sudden be coming and some you thought would be there all of sudden can't. My point is with ddw;s yopu just never know until almost the last planning stages, if you can handle that then a ddw's is for you and if you can't then maybe a wedding closer to home is what you should consider. You could also always do a legal ceremony before you leave and invite the people important to you that can't make it, and then have your beautiful wedding on the beach with everyone who can. I don't believe that if people can't make it, or choose not to come that it dictates how they feel about you, so try not to have your feelings hurt throughout the preparations, it will only take away from the joy of the whole ddw experience. Good luck:)

Feeling much calmer about it all now. FI cancelled mum's wedding today. We were then told our date was unavailable ... never mind date is now 9/9/9 unless they change ....

I am going, FI is going ... everyone else can go whistle!
