How much $$$ do you make?

Alyssa

Recommended Posts

OK, so this is a very personal question so I am putting up an anonymous poll for the money part but I thought it would be fun to get a cross section of what we all do and how much money we make?

I know there have been a couple threads about "what do you do" but none that cover the $$$ part. I especially think it is interesting b/c of where the economy is right now, how many girls we have that are just coming out of college / grad school and a bunch who are changing positions or careers.

I will start - I have been an Independent Contractor / Consultant for the last 5 years in the Real Estate Industry. The industry isn't doing that great (as in most places) and I have been looking for a new, salaried position.

So, what do you do and how much $$$ do you earn? *not your FI or anyone else, just you*

*** I also started a poll for the men http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t21620 ***

I work as Director of Corporate Development for an AIDS organization. The pay is not the greatest, but I like working for a non-profit cause I am helping mankind. At the end of the day, it puts a smile on my face.

well I am a teacher so our salaries are published. I would make a lot more if I had been able to finish my masters but when we moved I had to stop my program. Hopefully I can start again after DH finishes his.

i don't think it's too personal to ask, because people don't have to answer.

I make $25,000 (starting in july $26,000), as a graduate student in a science program. When you are getting your phd in a science field, you are much like an employee. I work in a lab all day and in exchange tuition is waved (we only take classes the first year) and we get a stipend to live off of. It's a nice trade off.

$25,000 doesn't sound like a lot, but we live very good. Mike has a real job, but we keep everything seperate for now (changing next month). I pay half the rent, etc. I'm able to max out my IRA each year, save for a down payment on a house once we settle somewhere & still live very good. I'm very to see I can live so well on this ammount. I've had a full salary before, but it was before grad school so i was stashing away 1/2. I don't know what it feels like to live off a full salary. I'm still in budget concious, college mode.

This is quite interesting Alyssa, I always figured what other women are doing and making $$$$. Well, I'm a full-time Registered Nurse and work on a cardiac floor. I've come across many cardiologists and have networked my way out. I currently work in the hospital full time, which is 3-12hr shift a week, and on my days off I work for 2 cardiologists in the office doing Nuclear Stress Testing. My salary ranges from $80,000-$100,000+ depending on how much I want to put in. I have taken it easy because I'm also in school right now working on my Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, which well further increase my salary. I'm doing everything possible to get financially stable enough, where I can start a family.....

I'm the Cheif of Administration & Marketing for a Financial Public Relations firm.

Yes, I knwo that makes sense to very few people.

I started my position a month ago and I make $1,500 a month ($18,000 CRINGING). This is temporary and starting next month I make $3000/month ($36,000 year).

The company is 4 years old, I started working for them a month ago, but I worked with the president of the company before he started this firm (doing the same work).

Oh, and we all work from home. My boss is in Westchester, NY...his partner is in CT and I'm in Staten Island, NY :)

I work as a Case Manager for a large disabilty insurance company helping our clients get back to work after being off for injury or illness. I assess their medical info and what they are able to do functionally (can they walk, sit, stand, squat...etc) and recommend when they should go back, do they have to be accomodated. It is great to work with a multi-disciplinary team of health care professionals (kinesiologist (like me!), nurses, physiotherapists, chiropractors, physicians etc), but its hard working in an office at a desk when I'm used to working in a physio clinic and in the gym. The pay is way better than working in a clinic or gym though, so I can't complain. I make $50 000 plus stock options which is another $5 000 a year

I'm an Executive Admin Assistant for a casino director. I make $40,000 a year which isn't too bad considering my day to day duties are helping the boss problem solve the tough decsions like "how do I get a squashed bug off my computer screen?" No joke. I had to fix that one yesterday because it got squished behind the privacy screen and she thought it was actually stuck IN the monitor. She even called our IT dept for help until I stepped in and solved the big problem.

Needless to say, I hope I switch jobs soon. I started as an exec admin right of college and "worked my way up" to this job. I really hope I find a job soon that's more rewarding and offers a little more of a challenge. It's hard though- my job is cake. No stress and I seriously like that.
