started a very interesting conversation as well as gave us all an idea of what the "median" income is for the women who answered (between $30K and $50K), it got me thinking, "How much do our Men make?" you know about the 'glass ceiling' and how men generally make slightly more? i thought it would be neat to do a follow up poll / thread for the men's incomes.

I will start, my FI has his Master's Degree from an Ivy Leauge University and works for an International Company in Purchasing and Supply Chain. I will post what he makes annonymously wink.gif so he doesn't kill me hit.gif

My FI works in the IT dept for a hedge fund. He went to school for Meteorology and creative writing and ended up working for a couple of financial companies and ended up where he is now. We are really blessed because he lkes his job! He has really been able to use his knowledge of certain things for the analysts. It really just works for him. Great benefits and one of the reasons that graduate school has not been impossible for me.

The downside- The ever buzzing blackberry!

Mike & I have the same degree (BS Microbiology). We both work in a university lab, but he's working for pay & I'm working for a degree so he makes more than me.

I think several things contribute to men making more money. Women are more likely to sacrifice their career plans to accomidate their husbands. Women do not ask for raises as much. Mike is in his boss' office everytime he is eligible getting it bumped up as high as it will go. There are guidelines at the university for raises. I've never had the guts to do that. But, I hope in my next job I do. Right now my raises are automatic & not negotiable. Also, many women opt for less hours to have more family time. And there are women not comfortable making more than their husbands.

I see things turning. Mike moved with me so I could follow my career goals. There are so many men here that did the same. A few years ago women passed up men in numbers for medical school enrollment.

My FI is retired from the Navy, he has his degree in Criminal Justice and now works as a Federal Officer. He's a smart dude, sometimes too smart because I hate it when I'm wrong. He works in the Protection Service Unit and he loves it (I think mainly because he's not in a uniform). He's traveled quite a few times to Europe this year so he loves that as well.

His blackberry goes off all the time too. I just want to turn it off sometimes.

But I'm glad he loves it. And I love the stories he tells.

Not enough, probably around 45 or 47k per year. Good thing he is so good at managing his money though. It really makes a difference I think. My last boyfriend made around the same but yet we never had any money? He was so bad with money I couldnt stand it.

Hubby makes a little more than me, but he is also 5 yrs older and has more and better degrees and works longer hours. My hope is that in about 3 yrs we could live of his income and my freelancing or something like that...that might just be dreaming though.

DHâ€s a Retail Store Manager at an office supplies big box. He never went to college, but makes twice as much as I do. His salary is between $65-70K and the hours are amazing (compared to other retail management positions heâ€s had)! He works some weekends, but itâ€s usually the morning shift as the other managers have children and prefer to work in the afternoon; perfect for us!
