I am totally at a loss.

I always thought I would do both but my mother is pressuring me to send these invites out to EVERYONE! That means approximately 150-200 people. Our budget is pretty tigh, do we really need to send out STD's and Invitations?

I'm not sure which information goes on each. We already have the resort booked and would love our guests to start booking right away. I am also planning on creating a wedding website where most of the information could be posted.

Any suggestions?

Hmmm, well I am sort of having the same issue as far as deciding to send invites/std's to EVERYONE. I have decided to not send invites to people who I for sure know won't go to our DW in Mexico (for example...second cousins who live in another state that I talk to maybe once a year, or my moms friends at her work) For those people I will send them an AHR invite later on but those are going to be very simple.

I don't think you necessarily have to send both the std's and invites...your website will probably have most information anyway....and if you are on a tighter budget by not sending std's you will save some money. Money maybe you can use towards your invites? just a thought!

Is there anything wrong with sending out a full invitation right away? The wedding will be in the middle of January. I like the boarding pass invites. Maybe I could also include that there will be an AHR for those who are not able to make it to Cuba? I want to give people as much time as possible.

I don't think there are any rules with a DW about sending the invitations too early. We put up our web site and had our wedding date and location information, and when people came to our engagement party we gave out CDs that included the STD info. But we focused on driving people to the web site to check for updates.

If you want cheap STD options you can get 200 postcards from vistaprint for $14. Stamps are about 26 cents each for a postcard.
Thanks for the suggestion, that is a really great price. I'm gonna look into it.

Be sure to look at your budget and decide how many people you can invite and can pay for at your wedding before sending them out. Expect each invite to be able to come (eventhough they won't) so you won't be surprised.

We sent out both save the dates and invitations.

The save the date usually says:

SAVE THE DATE

Your names

The Date

The place

Formal Invitation to follow

____________

The invitation is more formal.

If you're worried about your budget, you can send a STD that has your website address on it and then have all the info on the website. You can even make the website the invitation and have your guests RSVP right on the website so you can avoid mailing separate invitations.

to get that price you need to go through this link
www.vistaprint.com/minicatalog

and place 2 orders for 100 postcards each. Sometimes are you are checking out they offer you another 100 for a better price.

I liked the postcard, because I wanted more room to write stuff. I thought I would confuse & startle some people if it just said "save the date mexico."
