How minimal can you make the official marriage? I don't want it to feel like my real wedding, so I'd honestly just like to sign papers and be done with it. Do we have to recite vows or anything like that? Ideally, I'l like to bring my FI and I along with our 2 mothers to just sign and be done.

How was your experience?
At first I wanted to make it feel as unmonumental as possible, like stop by on our lunch break & sign so it doesn't feel like a reall wedding. But, then we decided to make it really special in our own way. It will be a wedding day about the two of us. Kind of like eloping. We are going to our favorite restaurant together. I'm wearing a cute white sun dress. We are just going to spend the whole day together enjoying each other's company. I'm excited. We probably won't tell people that is what we are doing that day. It will just be our thing. We'll I'll tell you guys.

Hi Ladies,

We went to the courthouse with one our closest friend and my cousin (my bestfriend). They signed our marriage license as our witness. My cousin actually came during her lunch break. We didn't want to make it a big deal so we didn't invite the parents. So they know our ceremony in Jamaica is our special day. Check with your county's website to see what their requirements are. Some are different. Then we went to lunch with our friend. But my dad decided to take us out for a nice dinner that night. So in a way it was special but everyone knows that Jamaica is our real day.

Hope this helps. I can help you out more in you live in Orange County in California.

I like this idea- I feel like even though it is just logisticts, it should b special to the couple- since it is your REAL wedding day that it became official- even if it is just the two of you celebrating..
I am thinking of doing the legal thing here now since we don't have to change our name yet. We are close to Maine and LOVE the lighthouse so it would be nice to have a someone marry us there. But then we would have to findo someone to go with us, or someone who can do it in Maine, and take a day trip. It may be confusing.. I am trying to think of someplace here in NH that we can do it, other than city hall. I donno!

Tammy (foxytv) hired a notary to marry them. I think the person would meet them where ever. Maybe you can find a traveling JP or someone like that in Maine that can marry you.

We are doing the courthouse thing, but the rest of the day is Mike & Mo day. We'll have lunch with our witnesses & then spend the rest of the day just the two of us. The wedding will be a whilewind of crazy I imagine, so marriage day can just be peaceful.

I got married in Vegas. It was quick and painless. We also didn't really have to have "real" witnesses. The guy from the wedding chapel and our taxi driver served as witnesses. It won't take away from your "real" wedding- trust me! You will still have plenty of emotions.

I just bought a trip the weekend before we leave to Mexico to Las Vegas to get legally married there. He doesn't know yet. I have never been to Vegas. How is it? What chapel did you get married in? Please help...
