How to keep from burning on your wedding day??

Recommended Posts

We went out on the water on our wedding day and hung by the pool. I just wore my moisturizer on my face and my bare minerals has sunscreen and thats it. I did some somescreen (dont remember the SPF). But I didn't wear it down to the wedding. Didn't want to be greasy and I didn't care if I burned and it showed up AFTER. haha. My dad though stupidly laid by the pool the whole day before our wedding day. We told him to wear sunscreen. But he said "There's clouds." Idiot. That is why he is red in all our pics.

Oh my goodness! I bought some of that Neutrogena stuff today, it's frickin amazing! It goes on just like moisturizer and doesn't leave you smelly like something you should be drinking rather than rubbing on your skin. Let's hope it does the trick! Thanks for the advice!

(Boy, it sure felt odd buying sunscreen today when it's snowed like a foot in the past few days and it's -15 degrees C!!)

The Jamaica sun is nothing like the sun we get here!! I have not had a sunburn since i was in 6th grade and my mom dropped me off at a camp in the Birmingham Alabama wilderness and I was all kinds of burnt last week, along with lots of my brown skin guests. Our wedding was at 11am- which is the time of day where there is no shade at the beach gazebo- and I realized on my walk down to the beach i forgot sunblock, and i paid for it later.

I took a Neutrogena spf 70 face lotion and it worked great when i remembered to use it. I also had a banana boat spray sun block that worked well and wasn't sticky.

I tried the tanning thing, reluctantly bought 225 minutes becuase that was the cheapest package they offered, bought the goggles, bought the lotion, total $80. I went for 5 minutes and broke out in a huge itchy rash embarrest.gif Luckily I could sell my minutes to re-coup some of the wasted cash.
Before you sell your package, it was probably the lotion that made you break out! I have REALLY sensitive skin and I'm also very fair (usually reapply SPF 30 every 30-60 minutes). I started tanning 4-5 weeks before my wedding. They gave me a sample of lotion to use for the first time, and I broke out in hives. I totally freaked, but they told me to wait until it calmed down, and try again, without lotion... No problems! I would lather up in Eucerin before and after to keep my skin from getting dry, and I got a really good base tan!

The best part was that I never burned in Jamaica! I stayed out of the sun for the most part before the wedding because I didn't want tan lines, but I don't think I remembered to wear sunscreen for the wedding (4:30p). Definitely be careful if you get massages though... the oils will kill you!
