Sleep Number Mattress

OK, I have a badish back. Like it's not so bad I can't function but I have a pain all the time. Lately, my hips have started hurting. When my FI and I moved in together we started sleeping on his bed. He is 6'6 and about 280 pounds and has a POS mattress that is like sleeping in a hole in the ground when we are both on it. I sleep at an angle most of the time. Anyway, what I am getting at is, I am looking into buying the Sleep by number bed. Any comments? Advice? Opinions? Good, bad and the ugly. I want to know what you girls have heard or experienced. I need something soon before I just start sleeping on the floor.

I think they are called Sleep Number

Sleep Number Bed: Select Comfort, 1-888-BED FOR U, Luxury Sheets, Adjustable Air Chamber Mattress

I have a friend who got the costco version of this bed and is so far really happy with it.

DH and I have the Costco version of the Tempurpedic mattress and I love it (I would get the kind with a topper-we had to add one once the material hardened up).

I have a terrible back and I could not have made it through pregnancy without a comfy bed.

They are the novaform mattresses

good luck.

I was going to say, we "test drove" a Sleep Number bed before just settling on a memory foam topper. I think the main benefit of the bed (other than it's a NEW mattress!) is that each of you can choose your firmness/softness. My BFF has this bed and absolutely LOVES it. The pump on it went out not long after purchasing, and the Sleep Number people took care of it right away for no charge.

We recently bought a Simmons beautyrest that I absolutely love. I rely in this website alot of consumer reports type reviews. During my search I read in a few places that the Sleep Number beds weren't very comfortable...at least not as comfortable as people thought they would be. I agree that you probably need something like that because of the large weight difference.

i used to have a sleep number bed that my parents bought me and HATED it. i am convinced it gave me neck problems. no matter how much i played with it, i could never get it to go to a level that was comfortable for me.

however, now FI and i have a tempurpedic mattress because he has back problems, and we love the tempurpedic.

The tempurpedic scares me because I have slept on one once without my own person heater (the FI) and I sweat my butt off and I NEVER sweat. It was just for one night though and I don't know if it was because of the mattress or not. Do you get hot (temperture wise you sickos) while sleeping on the mattress?

no i never get hot when i sleep from the tempurpedic. however, i would NOT recommend tempurpedic pillows, those make me sweat like a mofo! i wake up with wet face! i banned those from my side of the bed haha
