Mother of Bride Color?

Yesterday my 3 current BMs and I went to try on the dress I chose for them one last time to make sure everyone was happy with it! The girls all loved it so they were measured and their orders are in! Yay!

 

Well my mom came with us because I wanted her opinion as well before I ordered them. (She liked the BM dress as well).

 

While we were waiting for a dressing room to open up we started looking around for a Mother of the Bride Dress. After being directed to the Mother of the Bride section we found that the styles really were not her (or our wedding) plus they were freaking expensive! So then we switched routes and started looking for a BM dress that would work. (She wanted more of a tea-length with some sort of straps). Well the first one she tried on, she loved! But now we have no clue what color to go with.

 

The BM will be in hot pink/fuschia (see pic below) with hot pink/orange flowers. My FI will be in a tan/khaki suit. The GM will be in matching khaki pants to my FI and a short-sleeved white button up shirt (faint tropical pattern). My dad also has matching khaki pants to my FI but hasn't bought a shirt (waiting for my mom to choose).

 

I don't want her to be matching (hot pink) to the BMs... but I want her to be in a color that will compliment the current outfits. I am having both her and my dad walk me down the aisle. Plus, my 2 sisters are BM and my brother a GM... so I want family photos to look nice.

 

So anyways... what color do think for mom? She pointed out that she liked the turquoise and coral.

In my opinion I like the coral because it compliments the flowers and the BM dresses. I also like the Turquoise but looking at the flowers and BM dresses I'm not quite sure if it would mesh well. Just my two cents. But I'm quite sure whatever you choose will look great. Hope it helps.

My first reaction was I really liked the black one but looking at your flowers and the color of your bm's dresses I would say the orange/coral one if it looks good with her skin color!

I like the coral. That is actually the same dress my MOH will wear! I would go with something in the warm family--a lighter pink/rose, coral, orange, etc. just so it ties in with the rest of the bridal party. Although the turquoise would be a nice complimentary color especially if you could find a shirt that ties in all of the colors.

 

So, I don't know if that helped. I guess I did rule out the chocolate and the grape! LOL

What color is your MOH in? Do you have a pic of the dress?

I started playing around on the website and really like the rose color in the picture. But looking at the small square (and from what I remember of the sample swatch) the color isn't the same. That is my biggest concern... the store just had tiny swatches and a lot of them don't appear to look simialr to what the website has shown.

The instore dress was the teal - which was really pretty but darker than what my mom wanted. I posted the chocolate and grape just for more options -but also don't think they really fit the color. Originally my color scheme was the hot pink and chocolate brown... but other than my invites - it really isnt happening.

Has anyone ordered Mori Lee BM and have pics of what the color really looks like?

What colour suits your mom best? I don't think I could wear the coral, so I'm wondering what colour is her hair and skin? (I'm very fair skinned).

I really love that dress. I would have loved to where that myself. I would go with either the Coral or the Chocolate. The chocolate will go great with the bright fuschia and also the khaki/tan colors. Your BM dress is what I am wearing for my vow renewal but I have coral. Great choice. It will look perfect no matter which way you go.

my mom chose to wear a champagne color, but that looked good with her skin. My step-mom wore royal blue and my step-mother in law wore sage green. I can't remember what my MIL wore (it was nothing memorable)...

anyway, I say let her wear something that will make her feel comfortable and what looks good with her skin.

This is what color the dress really is, a light aqua. This is the dress 2 of my smaller BMs will wear. The MOH dress isn't in yet.

 

This is the TIffany dress with a swatch of the turquoise. It really is what you would think turquoise is, a vibrant blue. Definietly not teal!
