How do people decide to go to a DW 3 weeks prior to leaving?!?

I have had 6 people in the last week suddenly decide that they are coming to Jamaica. These are people that never sent their response cards back (which were due more than a month ago) and never gave an indication that they wanted to come. So I just assumed they weren't (which I guess I shouldn't have). Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that we have so many guests coming, it's just a PITA when we're leaving in 3 weeks and I already have my OOT bags made for a specific # of guests (83 guests, which translates into 52 bags). So what do I do?!? I can't possibly order more stuff this late. Should I give them a scaled down version of what everyone else is getting?!?

That is really frustrating Lizz! I would just give them a scaled down version, or nothing at all. If it comes up that they didn't get the same thing as everyone else, I would simply say that everyone else RSVP'd by "x" month. People don't realize that its a big deal to just add a few more at the end.

My father in law and DH's uncle said they were coming but never booked tickets or hotel. Well, we just assumed they weren't coming (it was drama, but its in the past). They booked the day after we arrived in Jamaica to fly in the day of the wedding. They got nothing... we almost didn't have them come to the reception.

Personally I wouldn't give them anything. I had people tell me that they wouldn't know to last minute- but that was a heads up. They told you nothing! Not just OOT bags, but I would have been really frustrated because DH and I budgeted the costs of the wedding and when we knew it was X amount, we spent the money that we were saving for head counts somewhere else.

I remember that and just realized I never asked you how that turned out?

I really don't want to stress myself out running around trying to find more crap for their bags. But, because I am crazy (lol), I'm just so worried about it. You're right though, I should give them a smaller version or nothing.

I agree- just get them a scaled-down version. They probably won't notice anyway, and if they do, should realize it's because you didn't have time to prepare. Just fill it with your leftovers and whatever you can find at the dollar store or something...I wouldn't worry about it.

The crazy thing is that one of the couples had a DW a few years ago, so they should know that it's not "free" for us (as so many others seem to think). Granted, it's not that expensive per person, but still.

The best part is that we heard through the grapevine that 2 of the guests were coming, they didn't even bother to tell us. So I had to force my FI to email the girl today and ask her. Ummm...hello!

This was my opinion as well. If you had a date listed for RSVP and they blew it off and never mentioned coming until now... I don't think its your respsonsibility. I don't what people are thinking sometimes... you wouldn't RSVP way late to a normal wedding tables, and meals, and gifts are planned somewhat ahead of time.

But if you do have extras of stuff it would be a nice gesture to make them a scaled back version of the bag. But I wouldn't go out and buy new stuff.

Yikes- you are my new hero for making that many bags. I wouldn't make them a bag. If they don't have enough respect to let you know sooner than don't give them a bag. Give them a welcome letter and that should be all they need. How rude. We have one person who don't know for sure if they are coming or not and I have already said I am not whipping up a bag last minute.
