We too only need a cake for 20-30 people, but I really want a two-tier, square cake. I am glad to hear that they can possibly duplicate a cake. Question: Do you have to pay to rent the music equipment for iPod twice, or is it just a one time fee? Thanks!

Bre,
I am having a private dinner reception as well with the pork and salmon just like you did. How was the food?
Our private reception is at the Royale salon.

We are paying the $5/pp set up fee because I am bringing my own favor/seat cards, centerpieces, tea lights, and floating candles. I got them from Illuminations. I will try to bring them back with and sell them after I'm done because they come with a refill when you buy them.

Here's a possibility for you. It didn't work for us as we didn't have enough people.

La Isla is not available for a private reception, since it can only be private if you have a 70 people wedding group.

I can understand a price increase. Yet the policy should withhold from the day you confirm your wedding with EDR. So you should only have to pay the guest pass. I think thats what everyone should have to pay. That I believe is a fair amount.

I've been away from the forum, so I'm a little late to this game. My theory: EDR has been less than accommodating. I have only paid the $100 deposit. If they try to jerk us around now, we change our venue completely and all stay somewhere else. If they wait until we get there to give us trouble, we simply do not pay for the wedding and either have a ceremony location elsewhere picked out, or simply walk a few steps down the beach and have our symbolic ceremony off of EDR property, minus the gazebo and decorations. I'm not doing enough for this to really hurt them with the loss of money, but it will make me feel better and they will see my point. I may just have my dad or FFIL (or both) prepare something to say for the ceremony just in case.

I agree
they have been less then accommodating
They have more fees then ANY OTHER PLACE!
Its silly!
I am personally looking at going elsewhere and my guests all agree with me and are not angry by this at all! I just am looking for a place that costs similar so they don't have to pay more!
its really annonying!

Let me know if you find somewhere good/cheap/close. I likely won't move the guests, but it might be nice to have the ceremony elsewhere. We could still do our "free" wedding reception at EDR. I haven't decided yet.
